What do you do for a living???

Well seen as though lately we have found out all-sorts about eachother I thought it was time to see what every one does for a living so it can be a job,school,college or even university.


So basically I do nothing but as of sept 22nd I will be a full time Geology student at Derby university.

Starting sometime in the next 10 days, I'll be back driving lorries, and also doing ground preperation.

Either:-

a) Liaise via phone with TOC control rooms, National Rail's info controllers (the website folk) and light rail companies to compile pieces of text to be sent direct to all BBC local radio stations, a considerable number of commercial stations, BBCi, ITV Local, Teletext, Transport Direct and an assortment of other media organisations.

b) Same as above but for individual flight and ferry alterations at 32 UK airports and approx 15 ferry operators respectively. We also do buses if there's something big going on, such as the recent closure of central Woking which brought traffic to a standstill for quite some time after the discovery of a suspicous item.

All done by two people on a national scale - one person covering each of the above - at an office in London (or after 5pm weekends just yours truly doing it all single handedly ).

as some of you may recall from a previous thread, until a week ago, I worked on the pier in Weston-super-Mare! primarily cash handling. with the help of some state of the art machinery.

now I have a horrible small office in a basement, and have to count everything by hand.

As from Wednesday 10th September, I will be starting my Engineering Diploma Lvl 2 and I can't wait!! Downside though. My collge promised me that they would get me down there. Now I have to trek 3 Miles on my bike to get there.

My part time job (been put on hold at the moment =@) is a Call Centre Assistant - one of those people that rings up and says *Can I ask a few questions?*
I get a few choice words and people hang up on me =)

Not bad pay though - £7 an hour, so yeah!!

• Transport campaigning (unpaid) - Vice Chairman of a local transport campaigning group
• Transport researcher - Advise the local Conservative party on transport policy and goings on
• Promotional work for the Community Rail Partnership
• Admin processing work - dealing with Life Insurance for a major bank!

I work in a Hotel and currently in the interview stages in a Customer Service position with a TOC.

Indeed. It is a lot warmer as well. I am usually most suspected of being a 'Chav' and am usually moved out of the centre - onwards to Mcdonalds. 8)

I'm a CSR for Tiscali IPTV. Basically, when you call Tiscali with a TV problem, I'm the one of the guys you'll talk to. Spend a lot of time sitting around (my last call was at 12.41 and I finished at 5!) and when I'm on the phones, I get my fair share of angry callers. Still, pays quite well Anyone on here have the monstrosity that is the tiscali set-top box?

In just over a month, I'll be off to Glasgow University to study Medicine for 5 or 6 years, though, so I'll be quitting the call centre

I'd like to work as a guard/conductor/train manager/buffet person/trolley man/first class host/any CSR position on a train, but it's not exactly my dream job.

Well to fully explain myself I am.....

Soon to be a Geology student at Derby University but also I am a trainee Guard at the Midland Railway Center also I produce Images for a mobile phone company for them to turn into various types of Media for Phones (although they have gone abit quiet).
And my current job is just filling hours for a recruitment company doing odd jobs around various places.

I'm locomotive support for 37314 Dalzell, D212 Aureol, 50007 Sir Edward Elgar and 6233 Duchess of Sutherland, as well as being a member of the on-board sales team for 6233 when she's out and about on mainline railtours.
I am also a Steward for Kingfisher Railtours, a trainee fireman/secondman at the Midland Railway Butterley and a member of the Palmer Morewood Memorial Bowls Club.
