What do dual yellow flashing lights indicate?

Hi all,

As above, we live near a train line and often see two yellow flashing circular lights near the track, please can I ask what these mean - I am guessing it means a train is due soon?

Diverging route has been set if its a signal. The diverging route would be a lower speed.

Whats ur location B? Your profile says wrexham, and I cant think of flashing yellows around Wrexham off the top of my head.

It's an indication on a signal. It tells drivers that a junction is set some distance ahead for a route that is slower than the current line speed, and so they should reduce speed accordingly.

It can therefore indirectly show that a train is due soon, because junctions like this would normally tend to be set when a train is approaching.

Two yellow flashing lights mean that the junction which is two signal sections ahead is set for a diverting route.

There are many examples off this around the network. Warrington on the down and Runcorn on the up are examples I can think of.

If the flashing yellow lights are on the track, rather than on a signal, it could mean the exit from an engineering worksite.
