What did I see?

Was walking back from my lectures and saw some network rail type train heading north, this was just south of Stoke-on-Trent around 1500 ish. it had what looked like a yellow class 37 on the back.

This looks like the train in question (although it's hard to tell, as the real-time information gets horribly confused with trains like this that go up and down lines repeatedly).
