Good evening everybody hope you are all well. I have currently got an application in with West Midlands Rail and currently sitting in the sift. I am after as much advice and guidance about the next possible step that would await me should i get through the sift. any advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You might need to be a bit more specific to get a better answer. Sitting in the talent pool implies you have passed all your assessments/interviews and are waiting on a start date but that could be anything from a few weeks to a few years. At the sift stage implies you have only just applied and haven't had any assesments yet?

apologies no i have not done any interview or assessments, I put talent pool/ sift as this was in the last email i received from West Mids and they said i am in a sift and will go in a talent pool.

Ok, still sounds a bit confusing from West Mids side but usually what happens is your initial application is sifted. If successful you will be invited for a number of paper based and computer based assessments. In addition you will need to attend a couple of interviews, one compentency based (MMI) and a second with depot mangers (DMI) a more traditional type of interview. Different TOC's do things in a different order.

Get through all that and you could just sit in a talent pool waiting, waiting or you could get a start date straight away. Whatever way it it goes don't expect things to move quickly :)

Good luck!!

Keep checking your emails and spam. It took soooooo long I nearly missed my invite to Assessments! I would advise flagging up emails from that TOC so they show up. I would have been gutted!
