What careers could I do ??

A bit about me,I live in the,north east and over 40 with a welding and fab career.
The trade is now dead so looking into rail industry,which I've always wanted to do.
Can some tell me about the track gangs,how far from there base do they travel ?
What other entry jobs could I do? There's no depots near me as so can't get into maintenance.
Is it worth Relocateing and if so which area of uk is best ?
Should I go back to college for an nvq in rail engineering ?

You could have a look around at doing something welding related on the railway? I guess there is a rail welding course you have to go through.

Yes,live in aycliffe,only 1 mile away from it,very hard to get in.
