For personal reasons I am travelling each evening after work to Saltaire from the Settle/Hellifield area just now. Its not feasible by public transport as my destination near Saltaire is away from train/bus routes, so I would need an expensive taxi that end. And I would have to drive to a station at this end. and services get a little tin on the ground in the evenings.
The corridor between Skipton and Shipley is served by good buses, and a frequent electric train service, but the road between Shipley is very busy with cars, even at 19:30. So public transport is taking a tiny proportion of the journeys in the Aire valley. Why is that?
What can be done to make public transport more attractive?
About the only thing I can think of to make it possibly better would be to join up the Bradford - Keighley or Leeds - Keighley bus routes to the Keighley - Skipton route but would that really help?
