They might SAY they would but I had a "one under" a few years ago and my driver was off work two weeks and still wasn't 100% when he came back. When he did come back he had a SPAD on a bit of line notorious for wheelslip and the TOC did him for it.

permission to call the toc nasty names? The last thing you would want after that would be dismissal/disciplinary, and on a tricky bit of track too.


and surely the hearing trains for miles thing could just be prooved by the 'ring' you hear when a train is aproaching. and how i can hear a pacer flange squeel from almost the other side of lincoln

Fair comment about the stupidity. But a) do remember that the brains of these kids are still developing, and the bit that assesses safety rationally is not yet complete. And b) I do laugh when I read people mocking the fashions, tastes and groupings of kids today, as I can well remember being laughed at in much the same way 40 years ago, and being bemused by much the same things myself. Please try to remember what it was like, being 17, even if you are only 18. It's just the things they do that have changed, not the stupidity - it really is human nature.
