A quick question, I travel this route fairly frequently but it does get a wee bit boring seeing the same scenery and dealing with SWT's lovely hard seats.

Anyway, would my ticket be valid if I went to Clapham Junction and hopped onto the Southern service to Portsmouth from there?

I know it takes longer, but I'd be happier with a nice comfy seat as opposed to sitting on a seat that's as comfortable as an ironing board for the duration of my journey.

Thanks. :)

No. A Woking - Portsmouth Stations ticket is not valid via Clapham Junction. The two permitted routes are via Haslemere and via Winchester.

You would need more than one ticket to travel via Clapham Jn.

The Twiglet Zone.
Why you'd even want to even contemplate a long & winding journey like that, I don't know, if you want a change of scenery go via Winchester, much nicer.

If you are travelling off peak and can book ahead there are quite good savings to be made by splitting tickets at Clapham Junction and using a Southern Daysave or advance.
The scenery on the Arun valley Line is the best out of the three routes from London imho and incredibly its the second fastest route to Portsmouth these days.
