Looking for a decent but cheap breakfast next week after coming off the Caley Sleeper. Any suggestions? Have BITE card if that's applicable.

There are several good independent, reasonably priced, unpretentious cafes that would do you a cooked breakfast on Marchmont Street, a bit under 10 mins walk away.

There is a Wetherspoon near Baker Street, The Metropolitan Bar, if that's any good? Where are you headed next?

Thanks, Yorkie, noted, and directions saved. Not sure yet where we're going after, but it will be by LU (off peak travelcards) after 9:30 am, that would be handy for Baker St (cue saxophone riff :p).

Thanks, W-on-Sea, that would be handy for Russell Square. Any particular cafe you would recommend?

there are loads of cafes down the side streets near Euston most should be able to turn out a decent bacon and egg roll.

If you want something a bit different the Friends House over the road from Euston has cafe. It is open from 0800. Obviously it is the HQ of the Quakers in the UK so avoid if there is any religious impediment! I havent been in for a while but it s quite nice and civilised and not well known so is often quiet

I'm surprised Wetherspoon haven't opened a pub between Euston and Kings Cross given the number of 'cost conscious' Northern drinkers who use both stations ;)

Incidentally although I drink in JDW pubs often and the lunchtime/evening food is OK, I think their cooked breakfasts are pretty poor compared to a cafe.

Personal thanks Yorkie - breakfasting in your suggested Wetherspoons.
My son was more comfortable with that.
Thanks also to the others for their input.
