Weston Super Mare to Swansea

Going to Swansea next weekend 1adult with 16-25 and 1adult without, ive looked at southern website, and quoted £45-15 day return,does not seem to be advances, does anyone have an advance on this price? and anything about advances? ive looked at from bristol, and 1st seems to be cheaper than std, thats weird. is this normal?

The Southern site shows that Advance fares exist for this journey. If you hover over the price it says "Std Class Advance Single valid via: Via Crosscountry Trains and other TOC connecting services". For Saturday 7 August it also says "not available for any of the services below". It does not surprise me that Advance fares are not available at short notice for an August weekend. This is CrossCountry's busiest time of the year in the South-West.

The National Fares Manual NFM 06 CD shows that Weston - Swansea Standard Advance fares are priced at £11.50, £14 and £16 (£7.60, £9.25 and £10.55 with a Railcard) and are routed "XC & Connections". For Sunday 8 August £16 tickets are available for the 1731 and 1825 departures from Swansea.

It's not uncommon. It means that the quota for lower-priced Standard tickets have sold out but that for lower-priced First Class tickets have not.

In addition to the "XC & Connections" fares, there are Bristol - Swansea Advance fares routed "Great Westn Only".
