Those darts are generally decent buses, and I'm slightly disappointed that they're finally gone from Lothian, but the tridents are the old SWB ones that have been in storage for years and are slow and crap.

They've been refused a credit facility according to Bishop's statement.
This will almost certainly be down to more than 3 months of trading.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Bishop was also mentioning how surprised they were that the insurance had risen - Well wouldn't have the purchasing of 10/12 year old low floor Wright Cadets not have helped compared to the Merc Varios as before?

Lothian / Ensign stock wise, could they be these then?

That's what I meant by Banana Darts (aka SPDs)

The insurance claims for the second fire most probably would have made more difference. Two fires in 2 years is going to put a high risk element to the policy.

Although the Varios have gone, most of the higher value vehicles had also gone - The 11 plate Solos to Ensign, and the 58/59 plate Solos to Plymouth Citybus/Go Cornwall, which would probably have balanced out the replacements for all.

3 or 4 Wright Cadets wouldn't have inflated the premium that much. Most of the replacements were older Solos and Darts

Banana Darts or Tridents?

Also, what else from within the group?

AFAIK just a Dart and B10BLE from FSA

Engineers have been told they expect to need around 15 extra buses on the road Monday.
Nice to see that First have been running free services yesterday between colleges, and today, where there have been no services in the interim.

So if I have this correct First Kernow will have a Dart & B10BLE from BoS, ten former WG buses and three others presumably ex Ensign / Lothian Dart's?

It will be interesting to see where they park them overnight as most locations are already pretty full.

Those Lothian dart would be useless around Cornwall. Most are slow and crap.

The older V and Y reg ones are, the 52 and 53 plate ones aren't.

Some of the 52 plate ones in particular are proper flying machines (altough we've still got the best one), so long as they actually bother to maintain them. The only one with a noticable issue is SK52 OJD, formerly 60, which jolts every time it changes gear, and has done for years, possibly even since it was new.
Some of the 53 plate ones are a little sluggish off the mark, but are fine once moving.

They've spent the past 12-13 years getting hammered around Edinburgh by us, I'm sure they'll manage down there.

We have big hills that Tridents don't like.

There are a couple of deckers expected I've been told by a First driver today but the majority as single deck.

No sign so far today of any new arrivals at Camborne except the former Western greyhound vehicles.

I saw Laira and had a chat, he has a good day visiting various cornish operators. Good to see you Laira, I'll look out for you next time I am in Plymouth watching Argyle!

Edinburgh has plenty of hills, which is why the older Tridents and Darts were so hated by drivers.
The 52-53 plate Darts are good buses, and cope fine with hills (likewise the 52-04 plate Tridents, but those are all still in service here - the 51 plate ones are borderline acceptable), it's just the older ones that were rubbish.

Saw 50290 not in service and 53009 has made a surprise comeback on the 47 service both in Redruth today (Monday)

Mentioned on the First Kernow forum.A Marshall Dart and former Lothian Dart also arrived yesterday but not yet in service.

I'm hoping to get out and about next Tuesday to check out the new routes. Probably head towards Wadebridge initially.
It appears to have made the Plymouth Citybus zone 4 dayrider a lot better value as the terms of that ticket says all Go Cornwall services are zone 4, but the map only stretches to Liskeard area.

At the public inquiry for Buses Etc in Eastbourne today (for maintenance and service unreliability) the current management placed the blame firmly at the door of Smith and Bishop, who they alleged were deliberately trying to undermine the company while setting up their own independent business in competition (which never happened in the end). At the time, last year, Smith was GM and Bishop was Transport Manager of Buses Etc.

That would be Surrey Etc I assume? Registered as a company that never traded.
