I've passed all the assessments last year with WMT, failed the MMI. Tempted to apply for Shreswbury but it's 60 minutes away from mine. I'd rather wait for Crewe as I live there. Anyone knows anything about any potential vacancies in Crewe this year?

Got an email inviting me to online testing. Unless my memory is incorrect, they’ve thrown in 3 more additional tests in this sifting process, compared to the last time where it was just an SJT and then a video interview if you passed that, I’ll be relieved if they’ve binned the video interview questions off :)

The video interview is where I messed up last time. Just didn't know what to expect but I'd feel more confident going into this time round I feel

Likewise! Keeping an eye and fingers crossed. Out of curiosity @Brum_AVFC is the sift the SJT and 2 other online tests?
Last time it was the SJT and then the video interview of 2 questions.

I passed it first time applying and went onto OPC day, then last time I failed it as wasn’t expecting one of the questions I was asked and knew straight after that I’d mucked it up

Are you trying to tell me, that when you're applying for the 2nd time you still need to go through all of sift, video interview etc? Even when you've passed all that with the same company before? I've failed on one question at my MMI

Yes, you just don't do the tests parts you passed.

I failed with them in December 2020 and got told 6 months to retry, they didn’t recruit again until 2023 (as far as I know) so I have to go through it all again.

I’ve passed 2 VSE’s with Chiltern recently to still not get through to OPC because of high rates of passes, they’ve emailed me today to say they’re going to start assessing again for courses later in the year, but if it’s more than 6 months I’ll have to take the VSE for a third time!

Incredibly frustrating Train driving recruitment, but everything has a process and there’s a process for everything as they say.

I've passed all of the OPC assessments back in September 2024 and then failed on one question apparently on my MMI which is the last stage before the train driver manager interview and medicals. I've applied again now for Shrewsbury and had to go through the whole application process again. I haven't heard back from them yet and I know it hasnt even been 6 months yet to redo my MMI but figured out that by the time it will get to stage 2 assessments then it will be over 6 months then, so I've applied. Don't know if that disqualifies me or not? But if I'll have to go through the entire sift and video interview etc again then that's brutal...

It does ask on the “more about you” whether you have sat and failed assessments with WMT or any other operator in the last 6 months. Maybe that’s the reason if it hasn’t been 6 months since your fail? But yeah, I get it, it’s frustrating.

I tried this with Chiltern (within the 6 months) and I was told they couldn't even book people in with the OPC in this period. So I would be prepared to be sifted out. But nothing to lose by applying.

Yeah, I understand. But by the time they'll start booking people in for stage 2 assessments it would then be after my 6 months so should be fine. End of the day it's up to them what they'll want to do and like you've said nothing to lose by applying, if not then I'll try next time

Just had an email to say that I’m through to stage 1 OPC assessments 18th Feb at 13:00.

I’ve already passed stage 1 in 2020 and hoping I don’t have to retake it.

Great news was it just the first 4 tasks you had to complete or did you have to do the video questions aswell

I passed all my OPC tests with aventi about 2 years ago. but no manager interview yet. I've applied for WMT and had this email?

"Thank you for submitting your application for the Trainee Train Driver position with West Midlands Railway.

We undertake database checks to ensure your eligibility to take part in assessments. We have identified that you have sat the process for a different train company.

Please be advised that you may need to sit additional tests or the same tests you have sat previously to meet WMRs enhanced standard"

will I have to do everything again and potatially get a fail now as I believe Aventi use enhanced standards aswell?

You may have to do either some additional tests or all again as Enhanced means different things to different TOCs. When I did my Stage 1 tests, an Avanti applicant had to do the DFFT test only on the day, although if passed you would need to do the MMI as well since Avanti use the CBI instead. Also they may require you to retake everything as some TOCs only accept results within 2 years of passing, although I'm unsure on WMT stance with how long after passing they're willing to accept.
