Hi,

Just looking for some further information on the training as a driver with West Mids Trains.

- How long is the initial training course?
- What is the initial starting salary and at what points does it increase?
- What is the policy around annual leave whilst in training? Is it booked in for you or is there restrictions within the first few months for example?

Thank you

Hi,

I couldn’t tell you the training length as it changes all the time. The starting salary should be mentioned in the job offer letter it’s around £27000 and it increases after 9 months and then again a year later and top pay another year after that. We are due a pay rise in October which will take us to around £57000 top pay. Annual leave can’t be taken whilst classroom training is taking place. You can take leave when doing your driving hours when ever you want within the limits of allowance of leave. The first year after training will be allowed to book leave when you like. You’ll then get block leave. 1 week at the start of the year. 2 weeks summer and 1 week winter booked for you. The rest can be booked when you want subject to others also having holiday.

Can I jump on this one and ask, for those based at New Street, do you get allocated parking pass for Ellis St car park?

I am asking about a pass to the car park, not for a designated parking space. I assume that is a yes then with regards to a pass?
