I have just started a new job which necessitates daily travel via train, the journey is Kidderminster to Birmingham Moor Street.
In order to facilitate this I popped to a station, passport photo in hand and purchased a monthly ticket for £120.
It's only been two days but the practicality of a paper ticket is already beginning to grate a little and I'm envisaging it'll be slightly annoying to go to a ticket office every month so I'm trying to investigate alternative options.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a better solution? If I buy a season ticket on an app (like The Trainline for example) would it be an e-ticket I could scan on my phone at barriers? Alternatively can I get a "Swift" card? My initial googling has led to an "all zones" ntrain ticket for just over £75 a month but this would only be valid from Stourbridge Junction, would it be a good idea to buy that on direct debit and just buy a monthly Kidderminster - Stourbridge Junction season ticket? My understanding is this would give me a smart card to get through the barriers at Moor Street and the paper ticket could stay in my bag only needing to be produced if required on the train.
