I rushed to jump on a train to get home quick and didn't buy a train ticket as the train was already on platform silly of me I definitely know now this was a short journey.

The inspector issued me with a penalty fare and I have paid this off. It's still outstanding on my bank currently.
They took my name, date of birth and address.

Once this goes through is this the end of the matter? It's my first ever time.
I've read some others and people saying they can go through your account which most of my journey's are return as I travel long distances. But there like 2 that not full journey would they think I've not paid on train back to my destination because I also use buses and taxis to places to, not just the train especially short distance.
And I sometimes buy train tickets at the station not online that I currently have binned them all as journey all done.

Also I'm just worried about it 'may' showing up on an enhanced DBs as I want to go back to care work.

Just full of worry in my head as it's my first time just want a bit of assurance that it's the end. And I've learnt my lesson. Thanks.

Yes (although it's a bit odd that it's outstanding on your bank I'd have thought, the vast majority of payments should be instant*, so I'd watch that carefully) payment will be the end of the matter.

If you get "fishing" emails from them subsequently (which is possible but not likely in your case) then so long as your payment did go through and you remained whiter than white since it is crucial that you ignore them, no matter how "dramatic" they look.

*Just a general observation about paying for stuff, not WMT specific

Happy to be corrected but I don't think you need to worry about the DBS check, as you have not been convicted of an offence - penalty fares are a civil debt, not a fine.

Ok thank you for that. I will definitely keep an eye on the transaction hoping it clears.

Yes its anything more that they may want to try flag me up on as I just want it to be the end and lesson learned regardless but I won't reply to any sort of emails without seeking help

Let's hope so. I've searched loads and all says it shouldn't appear but they could if they think it's relevant is what I get. I rather be truthful if that's the case when re doing a DBs check but hopefully nothing to worry about just me panicking

Penalty fares are not a conviction and won't show up on a DBS check of any kind, don't worry about that.

Once the Penalty Fare has been paid that is the end of the matter for the incident where you were caught. Nothing will show up on a DBS check because of a Penalty Fare (technically you've been sold a fare (albeit at a higher price than normal), a court conviction is what's needed to impact DBS).

Now that you've come to their attention the train company might decide to search your online ticket purchasing history and if this indicates further irregularities they might contact you about those. If you do get contacted then do not reply or even acknowledge it but instead post a redacted copy in this thread so we can advise the best way to respond.

Thank you so much for the replies.
Has put my mind more at ease now that's it's definitely the end of it and dbs check will not be affected.
The penalty fare transaction has cleared in my bank now so it's gone through ok.
