Hi there. The appropriate website appears to be broken at the moment; can anyone tell me the boundaries for the Network West Midlands Daytripper please? I know other websites say 'within the West Mids County/Area' but which stations form the boundary?

The Network Daytripper is valid in all five zones listed on the map but is not valid on the services north of Bloxwich North to Rugeley unless you purchase the Daytripper Add On (£1.00 Adult, £0·50 Child, £1·50 Family).

If your just after the trains then i'd go for a West Midlands Day RANGER instead as this covers Northampton, Crewe, Stoke, Tamworth, Lichfield, Leamington, Stratford, Reddich, Hereford, Shrewsbury.

Indeed they are, or Centro (NWM). Still got the old Day Tripper tickets I had when they were £2.30 as a kid. If the OP has a rail card then the Day Ranger comes down to a nice price, only double the Day Tripper. Useful if the OP was jollying up and down the lines instead of stopping short. Can't use buses or the metro on the Ranger but you can on the tripper.

plus for some people the Daytripper actually works out more expensive because of the extra amount you have to pay to get to an in-zone station

Well just to report back I kept to the local Day Ranger mainly because I wouldn't have had enough time for longer distance travelling. I had a lovely time travelling on all sorts of lines and services. The worst by far was the People Mover thing from Stourbridge Junction to Town - I know its only five mins but gosh its a bad ride!

A West Midlands Day Ranger is valid on WSMR. A West Midlands Daytripper is not as the only possible journey would be Tame Bridge Parkway to Wolverhampton which isn't allowed as north bound WSMR are pick-up only and southbound set-down only at Wolverhampton.

Does anyone know conclusively are the Network Daytripper tickets valid on Virgin or XC for travelling the Wolverhampton - New Street - Coventry corridor?

Or are they valid on London Midland services only.

I've had conflicting advice ......

yes a centro ticket inspectors sometimes do passenger counts on the virgin pendolino. and ive used network daytripper on virgin.

Yes they are valid on all TOCs in the area (except WSMR as there is no journey you could possibly do with them, as trains which call at Wolverhampton do so to pick up Northbound/set down Southbound only).

Unlimited bus and Metro travel, plus train travel within the specified Network West Midlands rail zones during off-peak times - between 0930 and 1529 and from 1800 to end of daytime service Mondays to Fridays, plus all day on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays for one day.

Of course Avantix will be changed to reflect the fact that this this should be issued instead of a Wolverhampton - Coventry SDR (£8.10), for example, since it is much cheaper.

Now, of course, all those instructions in Avantix saying to issue a Daytripper instead of a CDR if the fare is more than £5.20 are wrong, because of the afternoon peak restriction.

Only CDRs to BHM carry the afternoon peak restriction. For example, instead of a CDR Longbridge - BHM (£3.30 with afternoon peak restriction), you can buy a CDR Longbridge - Aston for 10p more, but without afternoon peak restriction.

It must have been in the past 6 weeks, as in mid June a friend of mine asked for a return New Street to Butlers Lane and was sold a Daytripper as evening peak restrictions would have made the SDR the only available ticket, which at £5.80 costs more than a Daytripper.
