You can buy any rovers on train, but of course if there is a ticket office at the station you're supposed to buy it there.

You can buy all rovers or rangers on the train. Now the real question is will the guard know how to issue one ;)

I figured that when WSMR ceased operations, we would never have another thread about West Midlands Day Rangers.....

Ive bought dayrangers on the train before. Not got a rail rover yet. Wonder what the guard would say if I asked for a 7 day All line rover.

Mind I once asked at Wakefield Westgate ticket office for a South West rover, but she couldnt find it. Got to Cheltenham, he issued it no problem.

If the ticket office is open though they could refuse to sell you a rover I would have thought and insist in selling the Standard Open Single or Return for your journey.

That's because there's no "help" in finding what the Rovers are called, guards/ticket offices have to type in the first few letters of what they think it will begin with and hope for the best . .
Your South West rovers begins with "Freedom of the South West" or "FOSW" others are more convulated, eg: all the Wales rovers begin with "Explorer . . " ??!!
Memory (of issuing one before) is key !
