West midland rover

Just got the go ahead from she who must be obeyed to have a day out with my 9 year old son tomorrow. We intend to travel by car to Tamworth and then use a West Midland Rover for the day. We really do not mind where we go. Just a couple of questions.

1. Does anyone know of a cheap/free place to park in Tamworth? I have a real old banger so I can just about leave it anywhere. I intend getting to Tamworth about 8ish.

2. We are going to be doing some WCML bashing from Rugby to Crewe but I would love to get some Chiltern Railways in as well. Any hints/tips about times/places/routes for the best chances?

3. Any other routes/locations/traction that you would recommend. As I said above we do not mind where we go/what we see. We will make it as long a day as we can as we do not get chance to get out and about very often.

As far as Chiltern goes, Birmingham Moor Street - Leamington Spa is a fair distance, usually a 168. As it's a weekday tomorrow there will probably be some 67+Mk3 sets out although I don't have the times for them to hand, I'm afraid.

I'd personally recommend doing a 158 from Birmingham Intl/New Street to Shrewsbury
