Still no official word on the LCB page on the fares and timetables (from their end) don’t know why I’m surprised they kept us eating this long

Iirc they done this with one of the last set of changes, the timetables weren't even on the LCB website until 5 days before the changes.

Even the Staff at the Travel shop in Centre are not happy, and their are people needing this information for work etc. Its one of the biggest problem Lothian have, not telling the public stuff.

Watch the unsure comments roll in:

* Can Kirkliston residents buy a Ridacard at the same price as the rest of Edinburgh and use on the new X38 and other City bus services. I believe the 43 which serves Queensferry allows this?
Lothian said We don't know..

Surly Lothian would know this basic info?

That and the other predictable questions

Where are the weekly tickets?
Why are you not running via Bridgend?
Why are you not running into Newbridge?
Why don't you give change?

I mean for the cases of Winchburgh and Linlithgow since they haven’t officially announced the fares just yet, I can completely get the vague answers to a slight degree even though the fare zone map makes it look like guess work, but Kirkliston is clearly obvious if most folk know how the Ridacard works on the 43, But most folk clearly just ask questions before doing research

Why are you not running into Newbridge?

That is actually a good point, it seems only the 63 runs alongside Parkside, I’m not saying all the LCB services should do this but I’m surprised they haven’t considered running the 275 or X38 via that route, it’s not a far walk from Old Liston Road to be fair but a direct bus service to Parkside from the city might make a bigger difference to the residents that live there

The problem with running through Newbridge village is that it can cause big delays, particularly at peak times. The 63 often gets caught up with traffic from the industrial estate, so running the X38 straight along the A89 from the roundabout avoids that potential snarl up.

To be honest, LB should have nothing to do with the trams, as the 100 and tram are in direct competition with each other!

Not really. The 100 serves limited stops on an entirely different route. The tram opened up direct, quick airport access from a range of other locations.

Could the X38 be a green arrow route. hence the euru6 buses and they don't accept ridarcards.

note that Sunday services in West Lothian will now be mostly hourly instead of 1/2 hourly. Except for 280

the X38, as stated above multiple times, is getting 176-181 from the main fleet with new seating/wood effect flooring etc.

I highly doubt that, I’m sure they would of mentioned that well in advance

Im not surprised with that, with the 275 being cut halfway and the 287 stopping service after 6PM on all days, was the evening service that empty on it? but I guess it shows that the 280 is definitely the more popular ones within West Lothian!

Surprised the X18 got cut to every hour on a Sunday but I suppose with the X17 running on a Sunday now that’s not too bad for those between Uphall-Edinburgh

Hopefully the X17 will do well on a Sunday
To compensate the loss of the 281, because after this I can’t see anymore new services being brought in, the X38 I think was the final West Lothian corridor LCB had to tackle, now it’s just a matter of seeing what the public thinks!

I'd imagine the good people of Breich which isn't exactly a bustling metropolis probably use the train services over the bus anyway so the loss of a bus service probably won't be felt too much.

Yeah i think it was 3 trains a day 2 in the Edinburgh direction and 1 in the Glasgow direction although there was talk they were going to close the station completely as the numbers of pasengers using it was so low and it was costing a pretty penny to replace the footbridge, as it wasent high enough for the wires, but hey ho they decided to upgrade the footbridge and reinstate the service with surprisingly the hourly service.

Credit where’s its due here

Was looking at the new timetables for the 280/X18 and it seems they improved the connections in Bathgate in the early mornings on the weekdays. So residents of Blackridge can get off in South Bridge Street in Bathgate and wait a few minutes and jump on the X18 straight to Edinburgh, obviously it means having to buy a dayticket but still, compared to now it seems very handy especially if you like using LCB!

Example here
280
Blackridge 5:12 - Bathgate 5:34
2 minute wait
X18
Bathgate 5:36 - Edinburgh 6:34

Or
280
Blackridge 6:32 - Bathgate 6:54
5 minute wait
X18
Bathgate 6:59 - Edinburgh 8:08

Just thought it was interesting, especially for the Blackridge Residents

i think they should have just scrapped the sunday 275 as its more or less pointless now. the 287 has the x27 which can take all the passengers from it except the wester inch ones
