Can’t say I’m too impressed with them reinstating the oldest eclipses at Marine to free up 176-181 for LCB X38. Yes I understand why they’d want the newer refurbished stock on this new venture but it’s not very fair that the lucrative city (bread and butter) customers/drivers have to suffer as a result. I’d hope these get replaced fairly quickly.

844-850 have transferred to Lothian Country. 841-843 are remaining with LMC for now.

Echoes of 30 years ago when the six Airport coach Atlanteans 660-665 transferred to the main fleet following the arrival of the coach Olympians 366-371, initially retaining their coach livery (and semi-coach interiors) until they were repainted and refurbished as buses.

I have the same question. I don't think its permanent though. There is a chance it is though, since the bus has recieved its fleet numbers.

Disappointed to see no increase in running time on the 280 or 287. Your name could be Lewis Hamilton and you wouldn’t keep them to time. 20-30 minutes late isn’t uncommon and lost mileage every day.

The painters at Grangemouth must make a killing with repainting the Lothian fleet all the time, sometimes the same vehicle twice in a year.

I thought the 287 had more running times?

Currently Bathgate Health centre to Livingston is 38muns, while the new times table its still 36mins it doesn't go via Eagle Brae, thus saving times?

eapecially a time like now where they’ve just done / are now repainting 587-590, 176/181 and a few 11 plates from the main fleet

Running time currently is 40 minutes. On the new timetable it’s 41 minutes. Not only that but layover is only 5 minutes each end so little scope to recover from any late running. Very poor scheduling. Same with the 280. 4 minutes at Blackridge and 7 at Livingston Centre. They’re trying to run a 20 minute service with 6 buses when it needs 7 at least.

I think theres 12 there at the moment. 177, 178, 179, 181, 394, 580, 581, 583, 585, 586, 590 & 1012

Surly the time saved not going via Eagle Brae helps on 281?

why would they put an extra bus out when its not needed. 7 minutes is plenty time to go to the toilet or shops or whatever. why waste money on an extra vehicle when its not needed

I think it’s more that if the bus is running 10 minutes late in its inbound journey then it’s already late for its return journey. And it’s quite easy to run at least 10 minutes late.

If the services are bad for timekeeping as claimed by the previous poster then you can understand the concern with only 7 minutes to recover which tells us an additional bus is required in the cycle. That sounds like cutting corners and no matter who the operator is it really cannot be defended.

Because the main purpose of layover time is for the bus to recover from any late running accrued in the previous journey so as not to impact on the next trip. Unrealistic timings coupled with insufficient recovery time at each end makes for an unreliable service. Yes, an extra bus would cost money but in turn it would make the service more reliable and thus attract more custom. Simple really.
