Linlithgow is one place they have not yet touched, suprisingly, but it will come if not for this..

What intrigues me about these coaches, is the location of the centre door. It is in a very stange place, 2/3 at the rear. Most other coaches use the front door with wheelchair access via there. Also there is doors for luggage below. They would not put these on an airport run, surely?
The Plaxton Leopard/B8R’s aren’t offered with a front mounted PLS lift, they come with this centre mounted option.

If you want a front mounted lift then you can have a 12.6m Plaxton Panther 3 on the B8R chassis, that would be the vehicle you are relating too and the closest model to the leopard.

I assumed this was a lothian request, to have the rear door with wheelchair lift. Still looks very strange to me lol. Thanks for info :)

It has to be the current routes like X17 or x18 or there will be sitting for around 8 weeks...

If its for public service the vehicle has to be PSVAR certified with wheelchair access, e.g, a lift and suitable rachet system to secure a wheel chair once in place, the Leopard's standard PLS option is pictured.

If you use one of these for private hire work they do not need to have a wheelchair lift, though of course one can still be specified on private hire bound vehicles.

Lothian have created a dual purpose middle door for pax and a chair.

If I were a betting man I'd put my £ on it being Linlithgow - Winchburgh - Kirkiston - Edinburgh to take on the 38 service as they know how badly many feel about the service First provide in that area.

As I mentioned before it would be crazy for LCB to ignore this service in the future, sure the 38 is more frequent now but I’m sure Kirkliston residents are still begging for a new Lothian service to come knocking, heck after announcing the X17 not only a week into the new service changes I believe anything’s possible at this point, they’re on a high right now

Unless they plan to take on Boarder Buses X95?... It wouldn't surprise me if i'm honest!

I doubt Lothian will ever extend to the Borders, crazier things have happened but anything that’s not a part of the Lothian region I doubt is getting touched, (maybe except Harthill in the future) plus I don’t know much about Border Buses are I barely use them but aren’t they doing just fine running all the old borders services?

The X95 in particular in Midlothian already serves plenty of spots already serviced by Lothian, plus it runs all the way to Carlisle, if Lothian ever announced a service to Cumbria I would eat my own hat!

My comment was partially sarcasm, however you may want to buy a smaller hat (less to eat).

Noticed that the rear of the coaches have social media details for Green Arrow Express rather than LCB which bemuses me even more - almost like they’re pitching it as a separate company rather than sub-brand (LCB vs Skylink). A very small “by Lothiancountry” at the bottom right

Lothian Country were started in June 2017 as a sub-brand of Lothian, and now they are making their own sub brand...

The new coaches are:
9201 (SB19 GKE)
9202 (SB19 GKF)
9203 (SB19 GKG)
9204 (SB19 GKJ)
9205 (SB19 GKK)
9206 (SB19 GKL)
9207 - registration yet unknown
9208 (SN19 CYO) - now registered (SB19 GKO)

thanks to a friend.

Also, why was 9208 first registered on an SN19 plate, and then re registered onto an SB19 plate 3 days later? I see little sense in that.

A new coach for Lothian Motorcoaches had SN19 CYS when pictured yesterday, but another is SB19 GKU.

Not sure about "a high" to be honest ,they are akin to an enthusiastic collector throwing money at a hobby regardless of its correct value.

God, you really hate lothian don’t you.
No dont be silly ....I'm a realistic person , however if you wish to put up a realistic debate about public travel within West Lothian I am happy to debate the point, somethings we shall agree on some we wont .

Good luck taking them into Fauldhouse ,Stoneyburn and Loganlea in a summer evening :) how much do windows cost ?

I'm loving the negativity on this thread

The idea of broken windows will obviously come as a shock to the bus company who've been running services to genteel places like Muirhouse/ Niddrie for longer than we've been alive.

It's amazing how everything Lothian do seems to get a negative reaction on here (rather than, say, discussing when the last direct daytime bus service from Edinburgh to Fauldhouse was, or assessing whether the "Green Arrow" name would be a means of changing the "Lothian Country" brand away from the "Lothian City" one so that the green/rural routes can move away from the rigid fare structure that a "Lothian" company has to fit into).

If they had just registered something when the 38 was cut back they probably would have done well with such a service. The opportunity has been lost though, First beat them to the punch by reverting the frequency.

Not sure if it will come to anything but a X14 route for the new coaches has been mentioned elsewhere.

Yet the 38s are empty most of the time.. peak times and Saturday mid morning is different..

To Glasgow? Stagecoach will wipe the floor with them and make it every 30mins. If Lothian goes to Glasgow then there just bunch chances...

Yup. Lothian seem insistent on having all their buses registered with Glasgow prefixes. It really annoys me.
Also BT, BG and BN which are Birmingham - which makes me scratch my head even more, and even more still when I look at the ex london fleet with vanity plates. Hide the age? Lothian have some from 2004 in fleet and hide location of registrtion? Well, a chunk are regged out side of Edinburgh so can't be that either.

When registering vehicles in bulk it is sometimes necessary to go further a field. Lothians latest acquisitions have largely been registered in Glasgow this could be down to a variety of different reasons. The reason our latest lot of buses have all got Glasgow registrations is because they have all been registered at the Volvo Truck and Bus centres in Glasgow East and Glasgow West.

This is due to these garages having the available resources, wether that be time or people, to actually sit down and register each individual vehicle, the Edinburgh garage is rather busy. The buses could have been registered through in Glasgow but on Edinburgh plates, however, it doesn't matter at all what plates they hold.

11-50 and 401-425 are registered with such plates because Volvo Registered them in Birmingham as that was their first point of contact after arriving in the UK from Poland / Ireland and again, the Birmingham garage had the resources to register the vehicles. Again, it doesnt matter what plates the vehicles hold as long as they hold plates.

The Ex-London lot are registered as such because these buses had a major over hall before coming to Lothian from their previous owners, to mark this, they were given new identities, as if they were new to Lothian. Not entirely to hide their age.

This is also the reason for the second hand coaches getting private plates and certain other acquisitions.

Weekly, monthly and annual options will come.
Here's the reply I received from Lothian's commercial team about Ridacards:
The provision of season tickets across the wider Lothian Buses network has, for at least the last decade, made exclusive use of the smartcard platform – season tickets are only available in smartcard format. This is because smartcards offer an inherently more secure means of delivering a higher value travel product to the customer than the paper methods they succeeded and over the past few years we have removed such paper products from our ticketing portfolio entirely. Having first introduced smartcard ticketing in Edinburgh 18 years ago however, the technical platform which underpins our current Ridacard scheme is nearing the end of its working life and has reached the limit of products which it can support, and how these can be delivered (this is why it currently isn’t possible to purchase Ridacard top-ups online, for example). The work to provide a technical solution for a successor to the current smartcard has already begun and, once completed, will create a brand new smart ticketing platform which would comfortably accommodate the creation of new smartcard products in West Lothian. We can’t share any further details at this stage, but would expect that work to accelerate in the latter portion of this year.

In the meantime however, we have introduced a comprehensive range of mobile ticketing products which include the ability to purchase advance bundles of our already heavily discounted Day Ticket products, but at a further discount. In bringing these products to market, we also sought to introduce something that wasn’t directly comparable with standard season tickets by offering the same level of value-for-money but with much more flexibility in when they can be used, in line with ever changing travel patterns and consumer demands. Our feedback from the growing number of customers using these products is that they achieve just that.

As with any new operation, we implement the routes, timetables, prices and products which we feel are most likely to deliver against our objectives and each element of these are, and will be, reviewed.

Watch this space.

The X51 only serves a small area of West Lothian, mainly the commercial areas of Livingston for commuter traffic from Fife. There is plenty of scope for a route from the residential areas to Glasgow. Certainly makes more sense than an express to Edinburgh.

The old X14 started from Bathgate rather than Livingston, the Glasgow-Livingston service was the X15.

I see , i thought that know you dont really get local regs now for buses . I dont the get private plates on buses though
