Not in West Lothian they wouldn't!!
Dont see anyone with "competition concerns" if Lothian are now going to Dominate everything East to West !

Not to get off topic but I’m surprised we haven’t gotten any more info on the Ex1/Ex2 services by now, especially given that they start in a month! at the very least the timetable.

Also on Lothian Country’s recent Facebook post I saw two comment replies starting they are looking into offerring monthly tickets, i know it’s not an official announcement but it seems we might get something for Phase 100 :D

I wouldn't see a particular problem with Stagecoach, but doubt it makes sense for them. Maybe an outside chance of McGill's taking this on, or a North Lanarkshire operator might be interested in a few routes across the border. But really, everyone on this thread seems in agreement that there just isn't the market in West Lothian for two major operators so I don't see the attraction for any other large bus company. As it isn't possible to use West Lothian as a stepping stone to Edinburgh, there isn't much commercially attraction.

However location wise for Stagecoach it is an excellent base to operate from .
I could think of many viable options that would make money from there.

I'm not quite with you - do you mean using Deans for express services across the Central Belt rather than local routes around the smaller towns?

Yes ,combined with a few of the more profitable local routes and binning the nonsense like 22 ,24,27 .
One of the largest shopping centres in Scotland must be of some appeal to anyone looking at Dean's depot as a potential .?

I hope someone will write a book about First bus, this has been some adventure. I doubt stagecoach would be happy with Lothian running expresses around the area, however I wouldn't right off the local routes, to many cars in the car parks prove that.

Ex1 and Ex2 are on the old EdinBus app. It’s only 5 stops in all of Edinburgh before the M8/M9! The Exchange, Haymarket, Maybury, Gogarburn A8 and Ratho Station. It’s strange seeing it miss out Corstorphine and Murrayfield but it’s definatly a respectable express. It runs a one way loop to the exchange via Torphichen St, Morrison Street and then Lothian Road and back via Morrison Link to Haymarket!

This is gonna fail, Who wants to go all the way round a busy street like Morrison St when they can walk from Shandwick Place. These routes can only be described as pointless and truly awful in my opinion. The market is FAR too limited on it

I mean if they had the buses lay over at Torphichen Street it could work, folk could still walk to Shandwick Place from there! Honestly I get it as it makes more sense to do a one way route than having the bus do a U-Turn at the Exchange! I’m sure the route will do fine! Still need the timetable and fare info though

Lothian: Announces new express services due to launch at end of the month

Also Lothian: Keep important details hush hush 5 days before it launches :D

I think it's still disappointing the EX1 isn't going to Armadale or Whitburn. It makes complete sense since Armadale's train station isn't central to the town centre and Whitburn has no train station at all. I like using the X18 but I would like a more quicker route especially during the peak times.

The EX2 has a much better chance of working, but EX1 I think isn't going to run the course...
