West Highland line fares query

I was looking at doing a trip from Glasgow -> Oban -> bus to Fort William (currently a mere £2), then train back from Fort William to Glasgow.

Am I right in thinking that there's no interavailabilty of fares to Oban and Fort William? And if so, what's the most economical way to do this?

I've tried looking at two singles and various combinations of splitting at Crianlarach, but everything is more expensive than the return to Fort William.

(It's a shame ScotRail haven't brought the family pass back for the summer holidays - it would be ideal for this trip!)

@teaspoon. Are you doing this as a day trip? Day return from Glasgow to Fort William is £38.80. The extra (single) leg from Crianlarich to Oban is £16.90. Total £55.70 before any railcard.

it'll be over a couple of days (also with three children in tow and a F&F Railcard, though I left out the 'adult and one child with the Railcard and two others for a quid' bit of the maths to keep the post simpler!)
