Hi,
I have recently heard that there are engineering works planned on the west highland line around October and I was wondering if anyone has an itinerary of the works, dates and the parts of the line/stations affected?. The reason for my enquiry is that I have a family holiday planned for the end of September/beginning of October and I was wondering if I may have to make alterations due to these works?. As things stand the plan is to catch the first train of the day from Glasgow Queen Street to Mallaig on Monday 23rd September, and to return to Glasgow from Oban on the last train of the day on Saturday 5th October. I've heard the engineering works are due to start on October 5th and that the Fort William branch will be closed, however I'm unsure whether the Oban branch will also be closed?. due to my own and another family members disabilities a coach journey from Oban is less than appealing so we'd prefer to catch the train and alter our plans if necessary.
Any information would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance

You'll find this link useful but it only reports up to three months in advance:
https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/currentAndFuture.aspx
You can also try this link: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/
At present trains are shown as running both from Oban and Fort William on the 5th October. You could try asking Scotrail direct but I suspect at present though engineering works may be planned that it's too early for the exact dates to be confirmed. For the record if the engineering works are on the Fort William branch they won't affect Oban services

I have just had a look at the Operational Rules for the section covering possessions, the line is indeed blocked between Crianlarich and Fort William from 23:40 Friday 4 October until 07:25 on Monday 14 October. The line to Oban is however unaffected by these works and is therefore open with Sleeper services also diverted here. However please be advised that this document will have been superseded by another document that isn't available for the public to view. Plans won't be in the public domian until 12 weeks before.

Caledonian Sleeper have told me that there are no diversions to Oban planned. See the sleeper thread.
