I think it's a typo - it's the 84, 86 and 620. Be surprised that First didn't think about rerouting the 82 and try to get the 84 cancelled?

Been a while since Stagecoach were in Bath when they operated the 620 and X54.

Think we can come up with a replacement for the 901 - surely the Bristol Bike Workshop on Nelson Street can rustle up a tandem!!

if the 901 was hourly and rerouted to serve roads in Stoke Bishop, it would increase numbers of passengers, match demand better, and cut the cost by two thirds, as it would only need 1 bus and not 3.

Although a free taxi from Portway P&R would cost less than the 901!

I think we're going a bit crazy over Stagecoach. Of what it looks like only 62/X62 will be going into Bristol and 620 into Bath. I personally think they might incorporate 84 and 86 into one of the other services they have (extend it).

Remember that Metrobus won't be just awarded to anyone - it will be very likely to be rewarded to a company that has a number of services in Bristol already. So contenders really are going to be First, Wessex or Abus. Wessex have pretty much given up and Abus have about 4 or 5 services in Bristol - yet both have more likelihood of getting to do Metrobus than Stagecoach do.

I thought Metrobus was already decided anyway? And that would be First?

Stagecoach are just using up some solos displaced from elsewhere and they might as well have some of their services going to somewhere known, rather than places like Cribbs Causeway, etc (i.e. belles express). Just look at 62/X62 - that will be going Bristol-Gloucester via Berkeley. 60 looks at the moment like it is going Thornbury-Gloucester too. Don't forget too that 87 has been cancelled and I suspect Stagecoach have that too.

If Metrobus is awarded as a contract then anybody will be able to bid for it providing they meet the criteria. If it's open access then anybody can run on it, again providing they meet the criteria.
I dont undertstand the argument that Cribbs Causeway isnt a known destination when it's one of the major traffic objectives in the area! Stagecoach already have the 87 as it's just a few odd journeys on the 60 which they're revising.

Tend to agree with Carlberry that this 62/X62 is a cute way of operating the current 88 with split regs to meet EU rules as well as highlighting the southern bit as being mainly motorway

I'd suspect that the 60 will be expanded to incorporate the 87 - was always a bit messy.

Saw the Belles Express this morning - Gold decker near Michaelwood with two passengers. I suspect that despite the changes, it may not survive.

EDIT: Carl was typing as I was - I've mentioned it before in relation to the Dursley services. Cribbs is a) the largest single traffic objective in South Glos b) second largest after Bristol City Centre in greater Bristol and c) not served by rail unlike Bristol city centre so serving Cribbs makes a lot of sense

Today is the last day of operation on Wessex's 13, 13A and 19. Does anyone have any idea when Wessex began operating the 19?

Going past the Wessex depot today, I noticed two red Geminis, possibly ex-London? I could get regs etc as the driver on 32005 decided to floor it down the straight, not that I'm complaining... :D Any ideas anyone? Presumably more DAFs.

Wessex acquired another 3 ex Arriva London VDL / Gemini's in May from Ensign, they are numbered 40209-40211 bringing the total to 11. 40206-40211 are all still in London red, I assume they may be repainted over the summer if there's still work for them.

Former Wessex B7RLE 30938 has moved up to Diamond WM & will be working out of Kidderminster depot, it has already been repainted & is branded for new service 25 which starts tomorrow.

Seems as though Bugler will still be doing 672 in the evening - the last journey out of Bristol.
Hopefully tickets will be interchangeable between the two operators or it will be a stupid situation.

Work this one out. Just saw a Crossville trainer going through Westbury village.

The only local VOSA PCV test centre is in Avonmouth and it'll have test routes around the Bristol area.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
This is Bugler we're talking about, so nothing would surprise me.

If it's a contracted journey then the ticket rules will be dictated by the contact, not the operator.

Just noticed a VOSA change posted on Friday for Wessex 16...

PH1066711/69 - WESSEX BUS LTD, WESSEX HOUSE, PORT EDWARD CENTRE, ST. ANDREWS ROAD, AVONMOUTH, BRISTOL, BS11 9HS
Variation Accepted: Operating between Bristol, Saville Road and Bristol, UWE Campus given service number 16 effective from 19-Sep-2016. To amend Route, Stopping Places and Timetable.

Which UWE site is "Bristol, UWE Campus"...
City Campus (Bower Ashton, Arnolfini, Watershed, Spike Island)?
Glenside?
Frenchay?

How significant is this route change?

I've completely missed this new development (however it only applies to Clifton and Filton so I'm not a target market anyway):

http://www.slidebristol.com/

It says it doesn’t cost much more than the bus but appears to be nearly double, gives the impression of being door to door but actually runs to 'allocated convenient pickup and drop off points These will be within five minutes walk of your home and work.' which sounds like the same concept as bus stops, operates within a 20 minute window around your departure time and only operates during busy times, so adding to traffic congestion!

It appears to be a slightly modern take on the old Stagecoach east Scotland Yellow taxibus service.

Just noticed a VOSA change posted on Friday for Wessex 16...

PH1066711/69 - WESSEX BUS LTD, WESSEX HOUSE, PORT EDWARD CENTRE, ST. ANDREWS ROAD, AVONMOUTH, BRISTOL, BS11 9HS
Variation Accepted: Operating between Bristol, Saville Road and Bristol, UWE Campus given service number 16 effective from 19-Sep-2016. To amend Route, Stopping Places and Timetable.

Which UWE site is "Bristol, UWE Campus"...
City Campus (Bower Ashton, Arnolfini, Watershed, Spike Island)?
Glenside?
Frenchay?

How significant is this route change?
16 and uwe ? Isn't that the Bristol university bus ?

Could be:

A) A mistake (Which isn't unknown)
B) An odd trip extended to a U.W.E campus
C) Or something totally odd

Must be a mistake as Saville road would have it not going to Stoke Bishop halls, maybe they lost the contract with Bristol Uni? The first number 3 could get pretty busy if it doesnt go down to the halls!
