West Coast 40 Event!

3rd - 5th May 10am - 4:30pm

In May it will be 40 years since the electrification of the West Coast Mainline reached Glasgow so to celebrate this remarkable achievement, we are pleased to announce that on behalf of Virgin Trains and Direct Rail Services, visiting locomotives Class 90, 90034 and WCML thunderbird Class 57/3 (number still to be confirmed) will be on display all weekend - subject to availability and operational requirements.

**SATURDAY 3RD MAY ONLY**
CALLING ALL THUNDERBIRD FANS!! 3 Virgin Trains Class 57/3 nameplates will be up for auction at the Crewe Heritage Centre with all proceeds going towards rededicating a WW1 Memorial at Manchester Piccadilly and some going towards local charities. The auction will start at approximately 12 noon and should last just over a hour. The auction will be made up of about 50 lots including worksplates, signs, flame cuts and other nameplates. Night Photography Opportunity
We are pleased to announce our night time photography shoot on Saturday 3rd May from 21:00 until 23:00, available to photograph will be the following locomotives :

Also on Saturday only, Virgin Trains staff from Crewe Station will be on-site discussing the do's and don'ts when around the train station and railway tracks!

Also at this event all weekend will be:
Various displays on the History of the West Coast Mainline from the past and the future, talks from men that used to work on the WCML past and present (£2 entry), APT will be tilting (prices and tilt times still await confirming), a variety of classic cars on display and also trade stalls including model railways and photographs will be available in the main hall.

*All the usual attractions will be running including the miniature railway, brake van rides (hauled by the CHC's home fleet), café, signal boxes and viewing gallery's open.

Plenty to do and see, come along and have some fantastic bank holiday fun with us!

For "West Coast 40", what could be more appropriate than an English Electric Type 4 returning to an early stomping ground - with a rake of steam heated Mk 1s for preference!!
