I think the scenery is well thought out for such a small space, interesting positioning of the Hornby (ex-) station building on the high street. Mind you, if I parked my wagons over the authourised walking route like that, the manager would have kittens!!

With regards to the wagons. This was bad design on my father's part as splitting rakes of wagons would reult in them fouling the points. I am currently building a tunnel to hide the fiddle yard entrance and I will add some photos soon!

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't having a go, it's your railway after all, just pointing out that it wouldn't really happen, atleast not it can be helped.

looks really good to me, for some reason my trains dont' like tight corners they keep jumping off tracks even at slow speeds.

The most likely answer is that the train is not designed to go round the radius of curve you have choosen. Many manufacturers are making high detail models, which have the side effect of not being made to go over tight curves like Hornby's R604/R605 1st radius curves.

It could also be that the track is not even, check that your track is level and laid correctly.

I have recieved an exciting new delivery

The flangeway independant snowplough is here. I have just opened the box and given it a quick run round the layout. I has real weight and runs great in front of a bachmann 66. The model has really sharp replicaation of the 'wasp' stripes and all lettering is clear and legible with good, prominent details such as lamp irons for high intensity headlamps.

See the photo and I will try and add some of it in action soon!

Does that Snowplough work ?

EWS 37411 has arrived on my desk now, so new purchases all round.

Have also seen the Railroad range of EWS wagons for $30. Might get three of them in future, may not be the most realistic of models, but by 'eck that ain't arf cheap...

Loco (66200) and HTA hoppers are by bachmann. I've had a quick whizz round the web and I can't find anymore of those tankers anywhere . The snowplough is rather good and runs in front of the loco. It has quite a bit of weight and I think it will push small obstructions off the line.

Those railroad wagons are cheap, £3 per wagon at hattons! They would do for a test weathering project, scrap yard dummies or even for engineers trains (At at stretch!!!)

Broke out the tripod late last night so here are a few snaps of the old snowplough out and about.

I have just finished making these backscene papers for my model railway. Both were produced by scanning 3D objects and editing them on the computer. I hope they are some use and are best printed on thin card. Youmay find it beneficial to use the picture toolbar in word to lighten the images. Unfortunately one of them is 5.3MB and won't upload. I have been thinking! "Dangerous" I hear you cry ?? I have recently purchased one of my regular magazines, Rail Express, this month they have done a feature on RHTT operations with a detailed analysis of a cab ride on one of the trains out of York. In this article several detailed photographs depicting the operating equipment and a superb diagram of a whole set almost exactly to 'OO' scale.

I have already produced a scratch-built RHTT set for top 'n' tail operation by EWS 66s. This was produced in late 2006 and I think it is time to have another go. (See DSCF4555 for the original attempt in amongst other stock).

I have 2 Hornby container flats which are now in the RailRoad range. The original effort is based on these flats and with the adition of a steel plate beneath the wooden deck the flats run well in top 'n' tail mode. The steel plate is glued to the wooden one which forms the wagon deck and has holes which locate of the container pins on the flats.

The tanks of the original attempt were made from dowell with the ends smoothed to a gentle curve. This worked well and will be used on the new project albeit in a revised lenght. The cradles are a major stumbling block or the original design and will be re-designed using balsa wood. The equipment cabinets were adequate and I aim to incorporate more fine detail by using balsa. The handrails were the other major issue and were originally made from steel and slotted and secured into holes on the decks. These hand rails do not follow the right arrangement and will be re-designed using thinner wire.

The steps will be added from a broken up locomotive. Paint will be applied similar to before but weathering and realistic colour schemes may be applied further. The only other additions will be cantrail lining using a needle and orange paint and, of course, transfers using the computer, laser printer and some photos.

Photos of this nature (side on) or any of the equipment would be well recieved and I will keep you up to date with progress. This project will also have to fit around my Charter project and my SSA re-paint which has been ongoing for 2 years and which I will feature later in this thread.
