After reading various articles about the Wensleydale Railway here and there, I have heard that there's a group of members forming an S&T Department.

If this is the case, I think thats great. at long last do I detect the WR is starting to make some serious moves forward.

There's been a few things happening down there, steam locos planned, a fantastic Christmas offering, getting better each year!

Then we had the loco shed built last year.

It seems we have some really good "statements of intent" - Well done to those members who are behind all of this along with the Management & PLC.

I think the WR would really benefit from a designed S&T system - It needs it if they are to run multiple trains to make a worthwhile service. Appreciate its probably going to be a while to build it, but sounds like they are in the early days.

Anyone know whose behind it?

Come on the WR!!!

Yes I've heard that and its really interesting. Ill be interested in how far they go with it and what systems they install where.
I have heard there will be 4 operational SB's at Leeming Bar, Bedale, Constable Burton & Leyburn. Presumably when they head east they'll need S&T that way too?
I agree, with your comments as regards the WR raising their game - It was needed. I hope that this is the start of realising the potential of this line.
Its been hanging on a thread for years and I really do hope that there's some light shining at the end of the tunnel.
What fantastic potential.
Imagine the scene, mid summer, lazy Saturday, Leyburn, steam loco simmering in the platform with another on the loop (dare we dream 2nd platform here?), crowded carriages all under a superb array of semaphore signals, waiting for the "off" up the Dale all controlled by the magnificent signal box!!
Yes if this is really happening, I hope the membership plus rail lovers further afield get behind them as they deserve all the support they can get.

Yes but where too? Dare we hope it will terminate at Aysgarth - (No Im not starting that debate again, too painful and its in the past now), but wouldn't that be a brilliant sight to get locos, particularly steam at Aysgarth?
Now we all know who owns it, then if he's as passionate as a few people are suggesting, then he's got the locos to provide, hopefully an integrated service with the WR in some form of partnership.
I know in the past speculation was rife as to whether the whole line was up for grabs, but I say the WR needs to work in with a commercial corporate sponsor who also happens to be knee deep in the rail scene.
In that instance wouldn't that person who heads up one of the, if not premier Heritage TOC's be a good bed fellow?
Its like this. I wasn't too keen on Aysgarth being sold, but at the end of the day, Im a realist, its happened and time will tell if it was a good thing. At the time, it was needed and as I recall Mr Steve Davies suggested there wasn't a "snowballs chance in hell" getting to Aysgarth and I think sadly he's still right.
The WR couldn't have funded it, very few people could.
I think theres a lot happened for the positive in the last 12 months. Yes I guess its still financially tight, but theres many others who are in a worse place in this sector.
Lets get behind this Management team and drive on and make what we have world class and a place to visit!!
