Wembley Central - Birmingham Stations return part valid from Wembley Stadium?

Something I need clarifying in my mind,

Yesterday I travelled from Birmingham New Street to Wembley Central on an off peak return, but I returned from Wembley Stadium to Birmingham Moor Street as it was a quicker journey. I wasn't ticket-checked on the way at all and would have been happy to pay an excess, but was this valid?

Why aren't tickets valid to/from to "Wembley Stations"?

In that case, it is perfectly valid via London and down the Chiltern Mainline, so you simply started short on your return portion.

Why there is not a Wembley Stations group I don't know, and doubt that I ever will. There probably isn't a will for it.

Perfectly valid as a mapped route, though you may have difficulty convincing a Ticket Examiner of that.

Why there is not a Wembley Stations group I don't know, and doubt that I ever will. There probably isn't a will for it.

The simple answer is probably that neither Chiltern nor London Midland would be willing to lose revenue to the other company, so you'd end up no better off as the only interavailable tickets would be those priced by West Coast, with Chiltern sticking to their "via High Wycombe" tickets and London Midland with "London Midland only" ones.
