Remember that for much of the season you'll have to travel on the first train out of Porthmadog, and catch the last one back, to travel on the whole WHR without using a connecting bus between Porthmadog Harbour and Pont Croesor. This is because of limited capacity at the former until work is carried out, hopefully before next season.

Great addition to Snowdonia's excellent public transport network, arguably better possibly any other national park in the British Isles. Possibly also the only mountainous national park where you can feasibly bag all the summits without a car.

Tony, on another topic,the flood pics at" The Cefn" are in the hands of Network Rail,the caretakers,so to speak, & not available to the general public. The line remains open to DMUs only at this time, freight is diverted (logs & steel) http://www.nwrail.org.uk/nwnews.htm

I appreciate the Madoc connection with Karl Pilkington,well thought out.

Ah the Welsh connection, anyhow Tony the North Wales rail news site link I put up changes every Tuesday at around noon GMT, the site is run a Charlie Hume as a hobby, it is well respected and probably the best site of its kind in the UK with regular contributors from all walks of life with an interest in rail.
