They would probably have been better with no sun roof or tinted windows. I've only ridden on one of them twice...

I was behind a Trentbarton bus the other day, and noticed the wording on the back. "Every 10 minutes all the time".. But on that route they aren't "all the time" . Sometimes they are every 12 minutes, sometimes 20, sometimes 30.

I've always thought the move towards E200 midibuses from three generations of 'full-size' buses (Excels, L94UBs then B7RLEs) to be a surprising downgrade. Not had enough personal experience of them since moving out of Nottingham, but interesting to hear seemingly consistent accounts from posters in this thread.

Hardly unique to Trent Barton. Most operators have done this, either this or Streetlites

I had cause to ride on a Streetlite in Derby. The next time, I walked .. Okay, a plus was no sun roof. Noisy, cranky, like it should have been on the way to a scrapyard. Come September,that operator will also have Enviro 200MMCs.

A tad unrelated however iirc, Arriva Derby were due a single 17-plate 200MMC from MK some time ago however it was involved in a RTC during the transfer itself and was returned to it's original location

The 24 plates are definitely better in the passenger saloon but no different for the driver.

I think the other allestree's have 'all the time' on as well so it's a common feature on the branding.

But it isn't every 10 minutes all the time.

The people who have said it isnt an issue, have obviously never been on a MMC with a sun roof in the height of summer. I never get on a bus when its hot unless i have to, and many people will think the same, so that will hit their revenue

Exactly the same with arriva and their Wright Electroliners it's like a greenhouse on wheels.

I feel as though the general message that most of us, including me, are trying to put out is:

Bus operators should invest in installing/repairing AC units on their vehicles (for both passengers and drivers) , as the advantages massively outweigh the negatives. Tinted windows is optional however it would be beneficial for passengers.

The one thing that I don't really like about tinted windows is that on a gloomy day, it makes the weather look even duller than it actually is. But that false impression is probably a first-world problem compared to summer heat.

Does anyone have an opinion if the later batch of E200MMCs, which trent fitted with the darker "super tint" glazing have helped to keep the interior temperature down slightly or not at all?

Yes there is a noticeable difference, that's why over the summer 176/7 have appeared on the nines on the Sundays; because they are cooler.

No better for the driver though, other than having two sunblinds on the front which is slightly better.

Give me a Volvo, Excel or Scania any day!

I know on some vehicles it can still be done but its frowned upon these days by both companies and Health and Safety for obvious reasons.

I know on some vehicles it can still be done but its frowned upon these days by both companies and Health and Safety for obvious reasons.

I've once ridden a notts+derby solo (471 I believe) not too long ago on the 27 and the driver had no issues driving along at 40-45 with the doors open... same with CT4N albeit at lower speeds. Most likely that smaller operators can get away with this easier than with operators such as Arriva or trentbarton

It also depends on the vehicle used, as some will automatically close the door over a certain speed

The L14 successor (the 104) seems to be curtailed to the Heathfield estates, rather than continuing down into Basford and Bulwell. It also now looks to down Mansfield Road and Sherwood Rise rather than going down Alfreton Road and Hyson green (which seems to be an entire suburb with 0 buses now).
