Surely would have made more sense to purchase something suitable for use on the DRT to provide cover for 1030/1031.

If they can't get it repaired by Monday could be some interesting times on the locals. 347 has spent the last two days on non-skylink work to cover for a shortage of serviceable vehicles on the town services which is clearly unsustainable and that's before the 3 vehicle increase in PVR from Monday.
In terms of 1016, it's main purpose is to work with 1026 covering the 137 school service from Belper to Kilburn. Shortage of buses at Kinchbus? Surely not. They won't blame buses. Is the 3 vehicle PVR increase down to the Uni services?

I'm sure they can use larger buses on sprint if needed or loan some of the solos from Notts+Derby

Hopefully it won't be too long before the electrics should start arriving at Kinchbus...

Notts and Derby have spare Solos? Wouldn't have thought so, since the schools went back. Maybe they could hire in buses instead.

Assuming the Q3 estimate is still accurate, but they'd probably want the Yutongs rolled out as soon as possible too.
Is the depot ready for them. Well connected to the grid?

Aren’t some of the n&d solos already on loan to tb?
468 471 and 477 are certainly back working for Notts and Derby now.

Last I heard they'll be arriving at the end of this year/start of next year (whether they get put into service that quickly is a different story). All of the chargers have been put in at Kinch's depot from what I've heard too so they've got that done in a good nick of time and are prepared for their introduction!

If my count is correct this is the 16th fire on a Wellglade bus since the pandemic!

Oh dear! Wellglade really need to sort this problem out, the fact this keeps happening over various different depots and bus types is troubling. Yes, it is common for bus companies to have a vehicle go up in flames but this is happening very regularly now

To be fair, of all the vehicles, I'm not surprised another sprint solo has gone up.. If you think about it, they are quite life expired (obviously being 18 years old won't help, and will never help in a situation like this!) and always sound in a rather sorry state, so as I've said, I'm not that surprised. You can definitely see why they are replacing them (the Yutongs really couldn't come sooner!)

Although practically all of them have been Optares/ADLs!

Don’t forget the Red Arrow Irizar & the N+D omnidekkas.

But this is now the 3rd fire in a month, wellglade is quite far from the once highly regarded & respected operator it once was
Various bus types, which suggests it may not be a problem with the vehicle design, more to do with any repairs/maintenance the vehicle has undergone during its operational life. I would assume the fires are investigated thoroughly and the causes identified, as well as they can be.

It is worrying that it has effected older vehicles, as well as almost brand new buses. Have there been many E200 MMC fires elsewhere?

Arriva Midlands' MMC 3142 was destroyed by fire in Botcheston a few years ago.

personally it’s a shame yourbus is no longer operating, the position Wellglade are in now compared to 13/14 years ago with the unreliability of a local of key routes it would be interesting how competition would suffice.

742 looks a lot more healthier than no 1. .

But surely that would just see other routes over bussed to the detriment of lesser services?

Maybe it is all down to Euro 6 and engines running hotter

Hang on. We were at 12 since 2022, before number 1. Is the list being expanded back?

Gosh the idea of 09 Volvos at N+D is wild  Why they’d paint the front of it like that, I don’t know though..

I never would of thought a Volvo would be in N+D. I guess the front tries to match the black that is on the Solos and Versas.

Bit speculative but I think it will be interesting when the new kinch electrics come to replace the fleet and if the my15 get the sixes versas, as I've worked out Wellglade could withdraw (NOT SAYING THEY WOULD OR WILL) all there solos (not SR's or TM's london ones).

Obviously if was to happen may be in different orders but to show my point I made a potential list, which includes TM but 1 bus (810) now being fully complient. The list is made in thinking 9 of the sixes versas will be my15s with 1 spare (845), and kinch are all being replaced by electrics however I kept 801 and 822 as spares along side there 107/8 which i assume will stay.

467 could be withdrawn by 829
468 could be withdrawn by 809
470 could be withdrawn by 813
471 could be withdrawn by 802
472 could be withdrawn by 830
473 could be withdrawn by 506

486 could be withdrawn by 808
487 Not in use
490 Not in use
491 could be withdrawn by 817
492 could be withdrawn by 845

This list don't include kinch mango spares 175, 714/5/6, 740 which may also potentially could go back to Trent too. But this will leave only the SR's 493 to 510

You'll be very lucky to see further use of 817. Plan for connect is still Versas long term.

Wednesday's demise of Sprint Solo 1 seems to have resulted in some unexpected workings today. Although the new term doesn't start till Monday, Sprint and Campus Shuttle have been running a full term-time service today - presumably to cater for students returning to campus. Campus Shuttle is being run by Sprint Solo 6 and Volvo 714. Other oddities are 25 plate ADL 346 helping out on 9, and possibly the most unexpected - ADL 347 running on 2/3.

Things could get tight when skylink starts to need the spares

Would it not be likely to see the 63 plate srs getting sent to Tm travel due to their euro 6 compliance?
488 - not compliant
489 - not compliant withdrawn?
490 - not compliant
810 - not compliant

And keep the older solos in Trent Notts derby and Kinch for the time being?

If Solos were to be sent to TM Travel Id have thought the 501 to 506 batch would be considered.

Not the first time I've seen a 25-plate MMC on the 2/3 as I saw one on the 3 last month.

I'd guess it's a case of using the larger stuff on the 2/3, 9 & 11/12 and keeping solos for the sprint and 5.

Next week is likely to be fun...
