That looks more like mission control, than a ticket machine.Don't know why i typed 908 - it was 761 (YN08 CWT). 767 has the same type of machine

It’s a trial as I understand it - they’re the first operator in the country to have that design of machine.A new ticket machine on Notts and Derby bus 908 this morning, with a much larger screen and a seperate card reader - 'marked Transmach'. Is that a one off or are Wellglade replacing their machines again?
Personally, looking at the photo, I think it looks a bit clunky and makeshift compared with the Ticketer ticket machines that I'm used to looking at.It’s a trial as I understand it - they’re the first operator in the country to have that design of machine.
They look quite good, I was having a nosey at them at the Bus Expo a couple of weeks back.
Very much a trail at the moment but if they are proven to be any good they will be rolled out across Wellgade from my understanding. It’s a trial as I understand it - they’re the first operator in the country to have that design of machine.

That's what we've heard tooVery much a trail at the moment but if they are proven to be any good they will be rolled out across Wellgade from my understanding.
I wasn't aware of this?Any sign of the Yutong E9 demonstrator at Kinchbus yet? Wonder if it will make croaking frog noises, like the Hop service in Leicester?

Thought it might be the ideal bus.for the University shuttleWhat Yutong E9?
In any case, I hope they don't actually get E9s. Those things look tiny... probably because they are tiny.
It would fit on the narrow campus roads better than regular-sized buses, but the capacity is a completely different matter!Thought it might be the ideal bus.for the University shuttle
Looks like it would fit similar amount to the solo's.It would fit on the narrow campus roads better than regular-sized buses, but the capacity is a completely different matter!
It'll be very interesting what comes out of this machine mallarchy. Refitting hundreds of buses with a different type of ticket machine doesn't sound ideal (I say that, but they did do that from init to Ticketer a few years back).. I guess as with everything on trial, we'll have to wait and see!Very much a trail at the moment but if they are proven to be any good they will be rolled out across Wellgade from my understanding.
You say that, but I'm pretty sure, if anything, Yutong E9s (even dual doors!) will provide extra capacity than the current Slimline Solos, with slightly more length and a similar width, so a general overall improvement to most passengers. It would fit on the narrow campus roads better than regular-sized buses, but the capacity is a completely different matter!
Not to mention they don't need to be massive as they are every 10 mins (every 5 around campus). Uni open days tend to get extra vehicles from elsewhere anyway (e.g. notts+derby), so isn't a huge deal. If they planned on getting extra vans then they'd have to spec them to their needs, as the Kinch DRT vans are very slightly different to the ones uniquely run by the council. Those E9s seem the most feasible for sprint and DRT running at the moment as far as I know (not counting ADL's new E100 EVs as they have only just rolled off the production line), and would make a great replacement for the ageing Sprint Solos in my opinion. To add to this, I'd think they would be more concerned about a bus that fits the route than capacity. the only time I'd think the route would need high capacity is on uni open days, which only happen a few times a year. I'd assume they will want something which could fit the DRT route they run since the slimlines often cover when a vans off, unless they plan on getting extra vans which wouldn't make sense to me.
I wish them the best of luck with it, I've been told to expect to see it on more routes than just Sprint! I believe it's due to enter service tomorrowI'm told a new ticketer ticket machine costs about £2.6k.. The Yutong E9 seems to be about a 28 seater..Must be similar to that hydrogen fuel cell bus H2, that Notts and Derby keep using.
I believe the frog bell-sounds were unique to the Hop service (although, what a great idea!).Any sign of the Yutong E9 demonstrator at Kinchbus yet? Wonder if it will make croaking frog noises, like the Hop service in Leicester?
I could actually see the end of ADL products at Wellglade...(What a shame, LOL). Isn't the ADL E100EV actually made in China?I believe the frog bell-sounds were unique to the Hop service (although, what a great idea!).
Pretty much, it looks like Wellglade will have the choice of the Yutong E9 (or E9L), ADL E100EV, or the Switch MetroCity for the small-bus needs at Loughborough. I think we can discount the latter, so presumably an E100EV will arrive to trial in due course? Bearing in mind that ZEBRA2 orders need to be placed in the next couple of months, I can't imagine it'll be too long before they decide.
I'd be surprised if whatever is chosen for the Sprint won't be mirrored for the rest of the requirement - so if they go for the E9/E9L, E10/E12s follow for the rest, or if they go for the E100EV, the rest of the order will be E200EVs.
It's not just that cost for a Ticketer machine. It's not like how it used to be, there are now shed loads of subscription costs to add, which are charged per machine. Sending AVL data to BODS is an extra fee. Schedule adherence (which a good few local authorities now say they want for tenders. Also helps keep a network in check). Plenty of other addons too for Ticketer.I'm told a new ticketer ticket machine costs about £2.6k.. Rumor has it Trent are ordering Evoras next so might suggest it.I could actually see the end of ADL products at Wellglade...(What a shame, LOL). Isn't the ADL E100EV actually made in China?
Yes, I did here that. That all said, are the current Volvo B8RLE s any good? Do they stay out in traffic all day. You know, I had to go to the Royal Hospital today. All those Enviro 200MMCs to choose from. . Opted for a Solo SR on the 114 and Notts and Derby Volvo Centros.. And they were great.Rumor has it Trent are ordering Evoras next so might suggest it.
From what I've gathered, the body is built in China, the chassis in Scotland, and then married up in Scarborough. Happy to be corrected.Isn't the ADL E100EV actually made in China?
These have been around for a while. Have new ones cropped up?Rumor has it Trent are ordering Evoras next so might suggest it.
While this isn't too certain at the moment, I can say that it is definitely not impossible. Particularly mixed with the fact that they have ordered Yutong GT12 Coaches for their red arrow service instead of more Plaxtons (although that could be because they have temporarily halted their coach production). It'll certainly be interesting to see what vehicles they go for... Even so, they may want to go for vehicles that have a good track record (discounting the MetroCity/Solo EV) and have been in production for a bit (thus discounting the 100/200EV)..I could actually see the end of ADL products at Wellglade...(What a shame, LOL). I might be wrong , but have operators moved away from running coaches on express services? Stagecoach and Go Ahead used to, but they seemed to have moved back to deckers. While this isn't too certain at the moment, I can say that it is definitely not impossible. Apparently so... reportedly (by drivers) they will be put on the two and my15 alongside others. These have been around for a while. Have new ones cropped up?
Possibly, I am not overly sure in that aspect though.I might be wrong , but have operators moved away from running coaches on express services? Stagecoach and Go Ahead used to, but they seemed to have moved back to deckers.
What others? I think I've said before that they'd do well on the Comet, Sixes, and Swift, and both the Sixes Versas and Swift Volvos have their fair share of reliability issues.Apparently so... reportedly (by drivers) they will be put on the two and my15 alongside others.
This Yutong E9... I hope they do, there's no reason why they are any less feasible than other available options, and they have proven to be reliable across many operators. And before anyone says 'well it's because they're foreign and foreign = bad', that isn't a great argument any more, as even your favourite ADLs (even if not fully) are built elsewhere! What Yutong E9?

Not sure yet.. they are the only two I've heard so far but it may become a standard order for trent and seep their way to these routes if it does go ahead. What others? Coaches seem to have access issues - not just wheelchairs, but clambering up to the seats can be an issue for the elderly and those with pushchairs as well. Personally I wish there were more either coaches or high spec buses on express services, but these also seem to be few and far between these days anyway.I might be wrong , but have operators moved away from running coaches on express services? Isn't the current bus station too small?Hey, if anyone wants a great view of Wellglade operations in Derby bus station 24 hours a day, with all home comforts... Derbyshire Live report on a plan to demolish the Riverside Multi Storey car park and build apartment blocks up to 16 storeys high. Clearly, the number of shoppers coming into Derby now, has dropped post COVID.
