Will the electric buses for kinch be blue and yellow? Or green as per the electric buses in Leicester?
I did wonder this myself but I'm sure the green livery ment to be for services that operate within the Leicester City Council boundary (with some exceptions like the later batch of arrivas electroliners that have Leicestershire buses branding)

The answer was blue and yellow...

Interesting a number of people have complained about the heat and the lack of air conditioning on Trentbarton buses .TB replied "it isn't worth it because we don't get that many hot days a year".. Hmm the complaints were sent fairly early. When I left home by CAR it was 24 degrees and rising. I'd say 24 degrees plus is the norm for a good 5 months of the year. Maybe the problem is actually lack of air circulation through the very small opening windows on the Enviro 200MMCs (Just about none)...Far better on an Optare. Not sure how any company can hope to increase business, of they don't listen to customers..

Maybe the lack of customers listening to what the company says also is a part of it. Aircon works with the windows shut, passengers more often than not open the windows which then breaks the aircon. You can also get a decent airflow on an MMC, I've had quite a lot of journeys where theres been a nice breeze from it

I've been on many a MMC where I have nearly passed on, through lack of air, even sat in the raised section. But I luckier than most. I have a choice of mode. Most of the time, it doesn't involve Trentbarton. I guess it doesn't really matter if fare paying passenger numbers drop.

Supposedly 2 (including the red one) but the second is nowhere to be seen so could still be in Barnsley.
Maybe they cut it up.

Presumably that will help to create some more room on the site seeing it is basically full already. To me where it says 'three buildings' it makes me think the whole lot is planned to be brought down.

Bus depot demolition plans put forward

Plans to demolish a bus depot in Derby have been submitted to the city council.
Bus company Trentbarton says it has long-term redevelopment plans for its site in Meadow Road.
Trent Motor Traction Company, which runs Trentbarton, wants to demolish three buildings and has set out its intentions to Derby City Council.
If the plans go ahead the demolition works could take place later this year.
Headquartered in Heanor, Trentbarton has been in business for more than a century and provides services across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire.
In planning documents the three buildings at its depot are said to be "poorly suited to modern vehicular requirements" and "beyond their service life, poorly insulated and contain non-notifiable asbestos".
It added it has "no plans" to move its fleet from Meadow Road, which will remain in place during any planned works.
Trent Motor Traction Company previously applied to move away from its Meadow Road station, with plans to build a new bus depot with more space on a derelict site in Stores Road on the north-eastern edge of the city reported in November 2020.
The council approved the plans, but the site appears to be vacant and permission is likely to have expired.
A final decision on the new plans could be made by the council later this year, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

Planning application shows C garage, around the bus wash, and the railway end of B garage, coming down There will be plenty of room when Notts and Derby .... ! Anyone seen any bats? Great crested newts?

So do they still own stores road site? and if so are they going to sell up after this current depot is redeveloped. I would thought stores road is the better option, as although it's abit further from the bus station, ain't too far, plus even if the current is redeveloped it may still flood there, unless they are going to put more drainage or something in to divert the water away from the depot.

I guess eventually they may need sort something in regards to water as if it gets redeveloped and eventually gets electric chargers and buses if and when they decide...

Every time I have seen Stores Road site, it has been packed with cars and vans. Stores Road was not ideal because of the distance from the bus station where most drivers go.. I am sure it added up to a fair cost. Then you can only leave the site towards Mansfield Road, but can approach two ways. I presume the Council must have changed the flood prevention plans.

I can't wait to see how they will turn out! What surprises me is Kinchbus adding a new Kinchbus 3 route, however.
It's not really 'new' at all. Been around years as a tendered route, and Kinch did actually run it at one time - not sure if it was tendered or commercial at that stage. Kinch were interested as linking it to their 2 route means the 2 can now run hourly. According to a recent Leicestershire County Council publication the 3 is now commercial service.

Stores Road is very much still owned by the Company
This is not what I’ve heard. As I understand it, Stores Road has now been sold as two separate plots, a site on West Meadows is being acquired for Notts and Derby, and they plan to invest in Meadow Road for Trentbarton.

Must've been a very recent change then, the last poster we saw said that it was owned by them still and they were awaiting a 'suitable' use for it, so if things have changed I'm happy to be corrected! Hopefully this is the start of a resolution for the rather snug Meadow Road.

Always thought it was a pity that Heanor Gate wasn't acquired when Yourbus went.

How big is the yard at Littles? I've not been down there for about 20! Years or so.

Yes something has clearly changed. Can’t help but think there would be too much dead mileage and staff shuttle requirements to make Stores Road viable.

West Meadows seems a much better fit, but what they actually do with Meadow Road will be interesting. Would removing the buildings significantly increase capacity? It’s quite unusual (and potentially wasteful) to have so much covered parking.

Certain benefits with skylink too with keeping meadow road.. Refueling on a relatively tight schedule (usually got about 15 minutes to get there, refuel and get back to the bus station), if you get into derby late then it can delay you even more. Having to go to stores road would of caused even more of a delay since its slightly further.

Agreed, it feels like Meadow Road is just too deeply ingrained in Trentbarton Derby ops to be easily switched.

I suspect DCC have maybe changed their position on flood defences and the regeneration on that side of the river has failed to gain traction.

Without significant resale value in the land, I can’t imagine it makes any financial sense to move operations.

I live on the route of Notts & Derby Link 2 service and see it most days, I've yet to see it carry a single passenger.

Looking at the timetable, I can't see any mention of it being supported so is it a fully commercial service?
If it is, it must be a terrible waste of money and surely can't be allowed to continue much longer.

Both L1 & L2 are supported by the hospital.

Quite surprising really as you'd think people from Mackworth would use a direct bus to the hospital. At least it is quite well coordinated with the swift, to offer a roughly 30 minute service to and from Radbourne Lane and the new housing estates to Derby. And there are bus stops installed on the route now, something that was lacking when the services first commenced!

Worth also noting that L1, L2 and Royal are now mostly not interworked since the L2 was extended to Derby. There is also a 2 hour gap on L1 in the morning and afternoon, possibly so the bus can be used on a school run.

If it is funded by the hospital I'm sure it will cease once the new multi storey car park opens. They must be losing alot at the moment operating a free car park and 2 free shuttle buses.
