How about some fun facts that many of us won't know. Anything rail related, just so long as it's quirky or interesting.

Here's mine to start us...

To get from King Cross to Euston on the tube you can use...

Southbound - Victoria Line
Northbound - Northern Line
Westbound - Circle Line et al (Euston Sq - which is very close)

It's actually located West of Kings Cross and, despite the multiple tube links, is actually easier to walk to.

The old BR ham sandwich appeared to have 2 slices of ham but actually it had 1 and 1/2 as the second slice was cut in half and arranged to give the illusion of 2 slices. Maybe dosent qualify for this thread as most people probably know that (i only know because i saw trains with pete waterman.)

And me and all of my brothers when we went down to London proved that fact. Me and Simon Poole took the tube from Kings Cross/St. Pan to Euston (Bank Branch) and the other three walked it from St. Pancras to Euston and beat us into the station just s we were coming up the escalator

So there is a fact, the tube is not reliable!

The tube might not be reliable but you risk going under a bus or taxi going down the small pavement along Euston Road during rush hour. I'll even take the sweaty Northern Line over that any day

I think the bit between Tonbridge and Redhill is pretty damn straight too.

To/from Kings Sutton there are three or four through trains a day, surely?

Anyway, it said 'regular' - not frequent. Trains from Fishguard Harbour are pretty 'regular' - about every 12 hours, in fact.

The Central Line extension to the former LNER line via Hainault was opened in the late 1940s. However, this work was more than five years late on completion owing to the Second World War. Instead, its vacant and partial tunnels under the A12 (Gants Hill area) were used as a Plessey factory...

Erm, Brough to just short of Selby is perfectly straight (not even a kink) and is 19 miles in length

Or better still, leave St P by the FCC platforms, cross and walk down Brill Place, to Eversholt St. No lemmings, no crowds. Just don't tell too many people...
