I got caught up in the west coast chaos on Friday 16th, and instead of one change from Euston to Bangor went Chiltern and ATW via Marylebone, Birmingham and Shrewsbury, arriving home over 2 hours after I should have.

I duly sent off my claim and fully expected to be waiting weeks due to the likely volume of claims that day, and to have to argue the toss about the sum, given previous experience.

Well, just 6 days later I got my vouchers, for the full return fare. Well done Virgin, and congratulations on the excellent service.

I've submitted a Delay Repay claim to VTWC at around 2AM on a Monday morning using the online form (where you upload a photo of your tickets) and the rail travel vouchers were in Tuesday's post!

I am sure this would definitely still happen if the TOCs were nationalised....

Wouldn't need to! The trains would all run on time, seats for all, and fares so low people wouldn't bother claiming.

Then we all woke up :lol: Corbyn would like his predecessors never have the guts (or money) to do it. Let's move on ;)

Luckily, people who are delayed usually do only want to be given compensation to go away.

However they do it, this is something those delayed by Deutsche Bahn's "Northern" branded services can only wish they had. Or even something which came close to the month target in the new "conditions of travel".

I tried claiming compensation from DB in germany due to a dodgy ICE, they just ignore me

I put my delay claim into GTR when they their bad day 19 July 2016
I got an acknowledgement and not heard since-they could have sent me a voucher at the same time as the acknowledgement they know it all went wrong on that day
AGA sent me a voucher on 4 Aug for the same day

My latest GTR vouchers took around a month to come through. I presume they are just overwhelmed currently and there's a severe backlog.
