Welding and grinding technician

Hi , I'm an apprentice trained welder / fabricator by trade and saw a vacancy for the above role. My question is, can you go straight into a technician role on the railways without any railway experience? Is it even worth applying? Cheers

I don't know about the above role , but I know plenty of people , myself included that came from outside the railway.

there are a few companies that do take on outside railway to start on the railway but not many i have been on the railway 20 years i started from outside railway best thing you can do is ring up some companies ie , renown , inline , shortterm and speak ot them and tell them your intrested in wedling on the railway and tell them how many yrs exp you have in the fabrication industry might get a lucky break
