Weird train-related dreams

Weird dream that was scarily realistic.

I was on a completely full Class 465 (specifically a /0 or /1 because I remember playing with the vents), when suddenly the road bridge at Elmers End station falls onto the train. Me and the people in my carriage (the front) were unharmed, and I called my dad on the phone. I can't remember what I said but it was probably something reassuring about how I have not died in a train accident.

I looked out the window and saw 2 things aside from the rubble of the bridge:
  • One of those ugly new electric 358 buses, full of old people who were all unharmed and laughing about the situation and...
  • a tipped over horse transporter with all the horses running about.
An evangelical preacher was outside the train shouting "TWO HUNDRED TWO HUNDRED" I then decided to go further down the train into the crushed carriages. I saw lots of dead people lying on the floor. (I'm not sure how though, if the train carriage was crushed and the floor would be next to the roof.)

I woke up after that, I don't think dead people in your dream signifies anything good.

I wonder if the preacher meant that 200 people got crushed to death in the train. How grim.

Arrived at Glasgow Central to catch a train…what do I see on the stops? The Hastings DEMU, was it there on a Charter? No, it was part of a Rail200 exhibition.

Even stranger, sat alongside it, a pair of GWR 802s, which were about to work a service train down to the West Country!

Was travelling on a charter hauled by a Class 47, and somewhere near what looked like Reading, we overtook another charter train with LSL/Saphos Trains mk1 coaches…hauled by…a pair of Industrial Steam locos. I made a passing comment about preferring the Diesel locomotive on the front to my travelling companion, my god he looked like I’d insulted his family!
He was so upset I’d told him I didn’t like Steam…and wouldn’t speak to me for the rest of the trip.

And…another Dream I had recently…I travelled on an Unrefurbished D stock on the Bakerloo Line running a shuttle between Willesden Junction and Queens Park due to engineering works affecting the London Overground and Bakerloo Line services. Even in the dream I thought that seemed a bit weird, wondering how on Earth it even got there!

Weird micro dream between the dog's 2am and 5:30am toileting trips -

I needed to get to Camden Town Woolworths (yes, I know...) and I had to carry our heavy furry German Shepherd, plus big bundle of pink bath towels, plus hand luggage.
I have no idea where my dream started off my journey - but it involved many escalators, all crammed with people, a myriad of barely-lit underground passages, confusing walking routes - none of which reflect real life!
The icing on the cake? Northern Line "train" in my dream, was a string of tiny 4-wheeled rail vehicle chassis, each with very brightly coloured hollow cube (each big enough for only one person) balanced upon the chassis.
The first train's arrival, a group of Japanese tourists all tried to push into the front cube. The cube rolled off and Japanese women sprawled out onto the platform. Regular travellers all tutted.
The second cube-train arrived and I somehow squeezed in a cube - whilst still holding dog plus towels plus luggage.
Next thing, the hollow cube actually had a glass infill to it. I was just getting comfy in it, when I found myself sat inside a London bus on the 74 route (Marble Arch - Roehampton) as they were 25 years ago...

Don't ask... :D

Not exactly train related but certainly weird, last night I dreamt that I was attending a forum meet up with @yorkie,@Bletchleyite,@Xenophon PCDGS and a random younger member who refused to tell anyone their name.(I have never met any of these people and only know their names of the board).Another member was due to arrive, but was running late because they had gone trick or treating?
The meeting was taking place in a long closed pub in Milton Keynes and there was only one member of staff there. There was also a 63rd birthday party for an American member of the Freemasons taking place in the back room.Because of the lack of staff the queue for the bar was extremely long, but they had helpfully placed some of those signs that let you know the queueing times( unfortunately they were rather random times such as 37 minutes and 53 minutes ).
A murder took place at the party and the police arrived and wouldn’t let anybody leave, so we spent the evening discussing which was the better drink between cider and mild.Unfortunately I woke up before I found out who was responsible for the murder, and whether we ever managed to leave.
I think I need some help!

Maybe, after the Trick-or-Treat, they were stood on Winslow station platform and awaiting a MK bound train; all because they'd not kept up to date on the RailUK thread - and so they still believed passenger services would start in Q4 2025. :D

I must say I got rather invested in the story. This would make a brilliant serial...

I only occasionally have train-related dreams, and it seems that living in a house whose garden backed onto the Piccadilly Line between Southgate and Oakwood, and travelling to secondary school by tube, must have made a deep impression.

In one dream, Metropolitan T stock is running past the end of the garden. In another version, it's standing at Arnos Grove. Why is it there and how did it get through the tube tunnels?

In another dream, I'm on a tube train with a vast amount of luggage. I think there are some pieces of furniture as well as cases and boxes. We're approaching Southgate, and I and others, who may be members of my family, have to unload all this stuff and get off the train during its brief stop at the station. I plan to use some of the cases to block the doors to prevent them from closing, but the guard (no OPO) is unsympathetic to this approach.

A third dream takes place at somewhere in NE London or Essex, possibly related to the Central Line. We pass through a vast railway yard, in which there are many stored steam locos, including some A4 Pacifics in blue. We seem to go back and forth here, and I'm hoping to get photos of some of the locos and of the now closed line on which our tube train is running.

The last one I can remember involves a closed line which has some relationship to the Northern City Line. In the dream I recall walking through this line, or cycling through it, perhaps not long after it closed. But now it seems that much of the line has become blocked an you can no longer get below ground to follow its route, though it hardly seems all that long ago since you could do so easily.

[I amuse myself by thinking that that last one is my sub-conscious nostalgically thinking back to my youth and regretting that life is not what it once was.]

Had one this morning - dreamt of a subway similar to Glasgow Subway, except it is set in a city on the East Coast. The trains were in green livery, and the station tiles were white, with tunnel areas being brown (just like Glasgow's pre-2011).

Later in the same dream, I went to the station similar to the pre-1977 Glasgow Subway, except it is smaller all round. I went into the train from the top, the trains are small that I had to fit it in!

Never had a train dream until I read this thread and watched a YouTube episode of the adventures of a London underground driver.
Dream't was being pulled by a Western ( class 52) on the underground in tube stock.

Indeed. That sums up what I feel about the 2020s compared to the good old days of the late 20th century or very early 21st.

Last night I had a train related dream (don't remember many details of), which was then followed by fake 'waking up' and having to remove the journeys from the dream from my spreadsheet.
At the time I assumed that I somehow sleep-typed and put the entirely fictional journeys on in complete detail.

I was getting off the train at Stafford, there were a load of us and we were coming down a different staircase to the usual one. Halfway down the stairs were a couple of sets of doors, I walked up to the closed ones whilst others went through the open set on the right hand side of these (I didn't try them to see if they were locked, I just knew I couldn't go through them as they were closed). Because of this I lost my place in the queue, we came to the final set of stairs that were also a lift; people stood on the stairs and they went down to the ground floor. I was allowed on but told I would have to crouch down because there wasn't quite enough space at the top of them with the lift was going down to stand up properly.

Had two very interesting dreams last night:

First one dreamt the “Parliament of the North” whatever that is, decided to plan and build HS2 phase 2. In their plan, HS2 reached Manchester from the east, joining up with HS3 to run underneath Manchester towards Liverpool and Preston. It was an elegant solution, although it missed out Manchester Airport. I think the solution was to build an Underground Metro from Piccadilly down to the airport instead.

Also dreaming I was manager of the Midland Railway, except the aesthetics were 2000s Midland Mainline teal HSTs. I managed to build a New Cross country spin from Skiptom-Blackburn-Manchester Central for some reason. Oh and Bradford was a through station. Skipton was the terminating point for trains from London. But interestingly, the Settle and Carlisle was served by a regular HST that went from Nottingham to Glasgow via Leeds I think.

Dreamt last night that a new line was constructed under the Thames Estuary running SE-NW, that linked the North Kent line presumably somewhere near Whitstable or Faversham with the LTS line presumably somewhere near Benfleet or Pitsea. I woke up thinking what a great idea. Direct trains from Ramsgate/Broadstairs/Margate to Basildon/Upminster/Fenchurch Street/Stratford/Liverpool Street.

Dreamt last night about pre-2019 ScotRail units (Class 320 in particular) having their vehicle numbers being renumbered in the six-digit series like the new units. Example was 320306: 477904 + 463026 + 477926. It is assumed in that dream that all pre-2015 DMUs and EMUs in the country would have received the six-figure vehicle numbers.

Dreamt last night that I was on a train consisting of two 376 driving coaches in Connex livery and a Avanti West Coast 387. Your guess is as good as mine as to why I dreamt it existed, but I remember the interior was like that of a Pendolino. In the same dream I dreamt that my dad had somehow lost 700 bitcoin in a bank and had to be bailed out by a "manager of Regional Railways", who was conveniently in a Class 150 next to our train.

Note: my dad does not have 700 bitcoin in real life.

I'm currently getting recurring dreams about engineering work confusing me at a split-level railway station where trains never depart from the level you're expecting them to. For some reason, I have to use this station to get to Reading in my head. It usually ends with me running to catch the train from the platform it eventually arrives on. I also apparently just "know" that I'm an Avanti Train Manager in this world, though where it comes into this I'm not quite sure.
