Weird fares Denmark Hill>Willesden Junction

Do any of you sages have any comments on this article in Guardian Money?

In particular, why does the £2 paper ticket Denmark Hill>Willesden Junction exist? Is it a relic from a bargain priced by Southern, or some such?
There seem to be several other (to me) surprising fares, including via Farringdon (which is not "cross London") and West Hampstead(s).

ATOC set the £2 SDR from Denmark Hill. It's also £2 single from Peckham Rye.

There's also a SDR from both stations for £3.80.

Not a relic, but yes, it is Southern/Southeastern. All the fares within London for those TOCs which did not align themselves to TfL fares are set by ATOC on a strictly zonal basis. Anything just zone 2 will be £2.00 single, £3.80 return. Via West Hampstead or Farringdon is a National Rail only zone 1-2 fare set at £3.00/£5.60; while any permitted includes cross London transfer by Underground and is £5.50/£8.80.

When the South London Line transferred to London Overground, TfL took over the pricing from all stations except Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye because they are principally served by Southeastern and Southern respectively. While the Oyster fares remain the same, the cash prices are vastly inflated in line with TfLs policy on all it's routes.

Also the same from Queens Road Peckham, a Southern managed station I forgot to check at the same time as Peckham Rye.
