I arrived at cheadle hulme on friday to find the train I wanted to catch was not on the board. The board was only listing trains from platform 3/4 (Stoke line) not platforms 1/2 (Crewe line), I asked the guy in the ticked office if there was a problem on the line and he said no. I then looked on my phone and that listed trains running relatively normal (though with some delays). So I waited on platform 1 and my train did indeed turn up.

This seems a pretty weird fault to me. I could understand the CIS losing contact with the mothership, I could understand individual CIS boards were out of action but having a departure board only show trains for two out of four platforms seems very weird.

If I recall, Northern reported CIS problems across their network on Friday.

There was a fault with the Northern CIS on Friday impacting across the network so presumably part of that. It is a strange one though as you say.
