Weekly season on LNER Smartcard

I sometimes buy a weekly Southampton Central to Tunbridge Wells via Edenbridge/Polegate from LNER because I can get cashback. It will only sell me the ticket on paper for collection at a station.

The corresponding monthly season is available to purchase on to the Smartcard. Similarly the weekly ticket routed via London is available for the Smartcard.

I could buy the weekly via Edenbridge/Polegate from the Southern website where it gives me a choice of paper or Smartcard (but I would lose the cashback).

Is there any particular reason why LNER will not sell me the weekly version for its Smartcard?

Probably because the operator that sets the fare hasn't enabled smartcard fulfilment.

Southern (GTR) have separate "SMART" fares for their routes. I would guess that the standard fare (that LNER shows) is not enabled for smartcard fulfilment, so LNER won't offer it, while the GTR mixing deck will offer it because it sees the SMART fare exists (but presumably this is set to not be sold from WebTIS so cannot be sold by LNER online).

You may be right about the ticket type being the reason, it may have been missed in being set up for acceptance in LNER's system. @Wallsendmag might have an idea about that.

I'll have a chat with the web team.

Puzzling one this, the ticket type is enabled.
