Weekend Travelcard

Am I correct in believing that Weekend Travelcards (i.e allows 2 consecutive days of travel) are only available from Aylesbury, Stoke Mandeville, Wendover and Great Missenden?

If so, is there a particular reason why they are only available from these stations?

Presumably for the same reason as why ticket purchase with contactless cards is only available from Great Missenden, i.e. they are running a trial and may roll it out further if it works.

Chiltern have had Weekend Travelcards for the Met Line stations for a number of years, certainly since I've worked there. Pretty sure they're the only TOC still offering them too.

They're valid for two consecutive days at weekends and public holidays (so over the Easter weekend you can buy one valid for Good Friday + Easter Saturday, Easter Saturday + Easter Sunday or Easter Sunday + Easter Monday) and allow a return journey from the origin to Boundary Zone 6 on both days (at least that's what the website says), along with unlimited travel in Zones 1-6.

Railcard discounts and GroupSave are NOT available, however there's a 20% discount for two people travelling together.

I doubt it is a trial as Weekend Travelcards have been offered at these stations for as long as I can remember. But why only the stations on the ex Met&GC Joint? Does the line's unique history have a role in this? Although Travelcards were only introduced in the 1980s long after the Met ceased services north of Amersham.

TfL abolished Weekend Travelcards within London way back in January 2005!
