Wednesbury tram depot

I'm planning a trip to Birmingham soon and I am keen to spot some trams. It appears that only about 15 are rostered for service so I was wondering whether it would be worth my while to take a trip to Wednesbury. Can anybody tell me whether there are any publicly accessible locations around the tram depot which afford a reasonable view of the stabled trams? Alternatively, can many be picked off from a passing tram?

I went past there just over a week ago; it's virtually impossible to identify anything from passing trams as well because they're so tightly packed inside the depot.

There were also only 13 trams out off peak on the day of my visit, Friday 12th July.

It used to be possible to take a circuitous walk around to the back of the depot at the foot of the Sleipnir hill and see some of the trams from there. Is that no longer the case?
