With over a month's worth of rain set to fall in one day in many parts of the UK, there have been a fair few "hotspots" of disruption so far, including a presumed mudslide that closed the seawall at Dawlish for a while. There was also a delay to an incoming Penistone line service to Huddersfield, which while only 10minutes late happened at just about the worst possible time:
The 1745 arrival from Sheffield was 10 minutes late due to poor rail conditions in the Honley area (so already occupying the single line) meaning the 1747 departure (which is formed from a Selby arrival) was blocking platform one at Huddersfield, leading to the 1757 Manchester Piccadilly service being sent to platform four. This in turn meant the 1802 to Leeds (ex-Southport) which I was waiting for was held outside Huddersfield waiting for a platform (P8 was kept free to allow the following Eastbound express to overtake) until the TPE had departed for Manchester.

I expect there'll be problems elsewhere, with the possibility of localised flooding, so I've given this thread a non-specific title to allow for other issues to also be discussed below.

We have some heavy rain right now in the South of England with a particularly notable shower creeping over Surrey. However, yesterday there was a wide band of extremely heavy rain over Sussex, Surrey and London about lunchtime which AFAIK caused more issues than this one is currently (two flooding incidents between Lewes and Wivelsfield, plus various station drainage issues elsewhere). We'll see what happens...
