Apparently this is now running, taking coal from Wolsingham to somewhere. Anyone have more details, and if possible times?

The two destinations for the coal are Scunthorpe steelworks and Ratcliffe power station.

Like most coal trains, they run as STP services, which means the timings
and running days vary from week to week, but next week the following
are booked to run:

6Z66 11:30 Wolsingham to Ratcliffe power station on Monday and Tuesday

6Z66 10:30 Wolsingham to Scunthorpe steelworks Wednesday to Friday

Cheers for that Mark, didn't realise they were running as frequently as that.

. . . . didn't realise they were running as frequently as that.
I'm so pleased that they won the contract to run at all!
As most people on here will, hopefully, know already, the whole reopening of the line running passenger services up the Wear Valley was financially predicated on the line also reopening as a component of our working freight network. (even if there are some walking-pace speed restrictions in parts).

I guess many people hoping to re-open old lines in their locality for passenger services simply don't have the option of adding a viable twice-weekly heavy freight service to their business plans! (After having built the terminal and negotiated the access rights, it still IS viable, isn't it?)
