Weardale, Dartmoor & Kirklees railway

1. Does any one know what is happening with workings on the Weardale Railway and the Dartmoor railway this year? Are they just having dining trains again.

2. Has anyone been on the Kirklees railway in Yorkshire, is it any good and how does one get there using public transport? as I don't drive.

Not sure about buses but it is a 20 minute walk from Shepley station on the Penistone Line to one end of the kirkless light railway.

I have a strong feeling that there is no access to Shelley station, other than by train on the Kirkless Light Railway. Their website does give a link to

But the fact that one has to search for information on how to get there, makes me wonder, if they place any value on customers arriving by public transport! Please note this seems to be the case, on many other websites.

Some years back I advised a line I was working with, about putting on its leaflets that if traveling by train, that a plusbus was a good idea, (£2 instead of £5 return), wiser council ignored this, still you are lucky!
