Learned contributors,
I am trying to trace the history of a North British built WD 2-8-0. The locomotive concerned is build number 25312. I think it became WD 804 but I'm not certain, and I have nothing after that.
Any help much appreciated. The information is for a former Sowerby Bridge footplate man.
Thanks for your time and trouble,
Be lucky
David

Apparently part of a batch of 545 built 1944. I have a few 1949 Railway Observers (50p each from VCT at Ingrow on KWVR). The ones I have tabulate various WD locos exported and reimported, but not yours sadly. They sometimes have earlier (1948) copies.

I suspect that any of that research will have been reproduced in some of the more recent publications on Riddles locos. Try Ian Allen list!

Will be over to KWVR soon, so will have a plough round in their excellent, indexed magazine room.

I love a challenge!

There was a book on the 2-8-0 and 2-10-0 produced in the 1970s that said where the locos ended up, e.g. Some went to hong kong, some went to Jamaica. can't remember weather loco numbers were given.

OK Greysleuth...this has been occupying my day...in between a long walk, a few beers and a bit of radio4.

So I have found someone...a contact who may help...!

Join www.accringtonweb.com they seem to have a section called railway locomotives (seems very reasonable) a fella called Bob. Now the reason I think this is a way forward is that there is a ref. to loco build no.25289, as 77419...then 90291. Not far from yours. Easy after that. I have all the allocations thereon.

Good luck
