I haven't seen this mentioned on the forum.

Whitehall officials were on Thursday putting the final touches to a plan to charter a daily service to London following a backlash against the company that runs train services on the west coast mainline.

And in a nod to former nationalised train operator British Rail, the service will boast carriages with old-fashioned slam-doors, according to industry sources.

For the first time in its history, Network Rail, the public body that owns stations, tracks and signal boxes, will be responsible for chartering the service from Cairnforth-based specialist West Coast Railways (WCR).

The unprecedented intervention comes after The Telegraph disclosed earlier this week that crisis-hit west coast train operator Avanti was struggling to timetable extra train services for the weekend amid a long-running row with unions.

It appears that Avanti attempted to use WCR's stock for extra trains to Euston but had encountered issues with the safety of slam doors.

There are paths in for today, Monday and Tuesday to/from Lancaster/Crewe on various runs timed for Diesel locomotive (load 455 tonnes) at 95MPH (https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...-16/0000-2359?stp=S&show=all&order=wtt&toc=WR)
