Milton Keynes has been invaded by rail replacement coaches; I'm at work so can't get out to look more closely, does anyone know what's going on?

There was a signal problem near Watford, an OHLE problem near Blecthley this am and a failed train near Blethcley
There was a fire being reported at Shepherds Bush yesterday.. hence the Southern WCML services were being cancelled.
At least this rain might have put today's one out..

What rain, only a little bit in Flitwick. What amazes me is where thay manage to get all the RRB's from.

From what I'm aware, most of the TOC's (or their agents who organise rail replacement buses) have a system where they can send one text message to lots of people (in this case coach operators) along the lines of
"we need buses / coaches at this location asap - please ring us if you can do it"
so it can all happen fairly quick - much more so than if someone had to ring round all the coach operators on their books one at a time.
Many coach operators will have one or two vehicles spare and a few part time drivers they can summon, but not be able to provide much more than that - especially at short notice on a school day.

The fire in question broke out around 1730 at Mitre Bridge Junction and destroyed or partially destroyed the catenary. I was at East Croydon and got the information straight from the Control Point, and given the severity they were describing, I doubt if rain would have put it out! I get what you mean though - the weather was terrible this afternoon in South/West London (it moved through Central London and over towards Essex, having brewed somewhere West of Reading) - I got drenched twice...

NRE are currently saying there are no LOROL services between Euston and Willesden Junction until end of service whilst repairs are completed at Queen's Park, but should be finished by tomorrow morning.

Not sure what it was that was on fire, but apparently they need to repair some points. I know the Bakerloo was shut as well.
Today's West Coast woes were:
A line side fire at Queen's Park in the morning affecting the Bakerloo line and London Overground. This was then the cause of an emergency possession from 20:00hrs for emergency engineering works to repair the damage. Bus services running between Queen's Park and Willesden Junction, with London Midland trains calling additionally Queen's Park and Wembley Central.
11:00am, a complete loss of all points and signals controlled by Watford PSB which is a 6 mile(ish) stretch from Hatch End to Kings Langley with all 4 lines stopped, and departures from Euston and Milton Keynes suspended for over an hour. The overhead wires also tripped out on the fast lines at the same time at Watford Jn with a further hour long block on the up fast for inspections and what not.
No idea what happened at Wolverhampton.

Driver of a Stratford - Clapham service reported the OLE on fire close to a set of points, about where current changeover takes place near North Pole Jn.
That was the fire near Mitre Bridge, the fire at Queens Park took out the points which take LUL services from the DC onto the Bakerloo Line.
The Mitre Bridge one was odd as we also found wires down on the Acton Lane Reception roads though luckily they did not effect the relief lines.

Ah... Couldn't find any reference in the logs about Queens Park, just the incident in the Watford area.
The Wolverhampton incident seems to be a track circuit failure - can't find owt else.

Because there is coin in it for the coach companies!
The only conflict, really, is with the school run services or any other contractual promises to third parties.
I assume the TOC has a call off contract with a bus supply management company who then ring everyone on their approved supplier list and ask for coaches on the usual terms.
I also assume there are grades of response to ensure the correct number of coaches are available.
