Building fire stops train service

More than 40 firefighters tackled a blaze in a derelict building close to a railway station in Hertfordshire. Eight appliances were called to King's Langley railway station where overhead power lines were turned off.
Rail services between London and Milton Keynes were suspended but trains are now running although there are delays.
A fire service spokeswoman said: "Three jets were directed at the top floor of the three-storey building. Trains were halted as the fire was near the line."

Hmmm, a few mishaps on the WCML the last couple of days. Punters wishing to park their cars in Kings Langley station car park were unlucky today, with Police tape blocking the way.

It was touch and go whether my children would get home on Friday, but by 17:00 all seemed to be well, with services stopping at the station. My son's train crawled through Watford tunnel towards Kings Langley, as though the line was being examined. Not quite sure what the connection with the fire would be.

This affected me and many other people at Stockport waiting for the 1524 service. Most of us took the next XC service and completely filled it :)

The building on fire was on the up fast line and was (apparently) only affecting outbound services past 1500.

This affected me too. I was intending to get the 1615 Dildo. However, this had been caped, and the 1645 was showing as arriving 40 down, yet an estimated departure time of 1700. 1700 came and went, with still no Pendo- It eventually arrived at about quarter past, and left around 25 past- fully declassified, but with 3 train loads of people on it. I went up to FC, however it was completely wedged, and eventually had to suffice standing in a vestibule, which wasn't too bad in the end, and I had a chat and had some beers - the 'community spirit' comes out in people when they are in 'cattle wagon' situations. Oh, also the buffet was closed because "It would be dangerous if people were carrying hot or cold drinks through the busy train" - come on, yes, possibly dangerous to carry a hot drink, but bloody hell, I think I would need a trip to A & E if a drop of caustic orange juice dripped on me!!! :s.
